2 tech questions
phone overall is great...horrible battery life when you actually you know...use it....but standby time is good ;)
i use it through verizon and i cant for the life of me figure out 2 things 1. is there any way to turn off the beep that the cell does when you actually place a call? It does it all the time on mine...no matter if its set to silent or vibrate.... 2. I use time warner cable for email address...when im connected to the cdma verizon web i can recieve emails but not send out. If i connect to a wifi i can do both...any way to send/recieve off the verizon cdma net connection? thanks :) |
Re: 2 tech questions
Time Warner only allows sending via their smtp-server if the network address is on a TW network. When you use wifi from your home, your email client connects to the server via the TW cable modem. Call Verizon tech support and see if they have an SMTP server you can use for sending.
Beeps for per-minute used, connect and disconnect can be configured by tapping, from the home screen, - phone - menu - options - Services - Alerts - Change Setting WM6.1 seems to be a giant step backwards from WM5 Smartphone at least where sound preferences are concerned. |
Re: 2 tech questions

but alas i tried accessed it...the three options were all off tried toggeling them on and then off, but it still makes a loud beep right when you press send for dialing a call :( |

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds\Dialing -> Change the value for the Sound string to *none* if that Sound hack doesn't work and it changes the registry entry back to the original value, try this one: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\SoundCategories\InC all2 • Change String/Value InitVol to 0 2.) For the email problem, set your SMTP server to Verizon's Outgoing SMTP address: smtp.vzwmail.net But you will need a Verizon SMTP account, which is free. Instructions are here for setting that up if you don't have one: http://search.vzw.com/?do=viewdoc&id=21489&p=4326&supportview=1 http://search.vzw.com/?do=viewdoc&id=17056&supportview=1 Hope these help!
