how to get ActiveSync to stop running all the time on it's own?
 
i've tried this method with no luck.... it's still opening up for no reason, all the time.

Its pretty easy. Go to the active sync program in your start menu.
Click on the Menu. Then you can change the schedule to run a certain times of the day and either "as items arrive" or up to every 4 hours. Then you can change the peak times and what days of the week you want it to run.

ive got mine set to manual and it still runs all the time.
i hit task ender,end it, close task ender,open it back up and its running again. its showing 0%cpu useage so its no biggie to me

I think it runs all the time by design, but it shouldn't really affect anything. It probably needs to stay open to be able to detect when you plug the phone into your PC and start syncing.
