[Guide]Perfect application of screen protectors with pics.

Just thought I would share the technique that works the best for me when applying a screen protector.
In the past I have struggled with screen protectors, and got so mad I almost broke a phone over it. So hopefully this can prevent a few people from wanting to pull their hair out.
I have heard of many different methods people use, but for me this has been the easiest and has had the best results for me.
The pictures are of the stock screen protector I just applied to my Touch Pro 2.

Here goes:

-Get a bowl or a cup of water.

-Add a few drops of dish detergent and mix into the water.

-Go into the bathroom and turn the shower on hot to get it steamy to drop any dust to the floor.

-Remove the battery to be extra safe.

-Scrub your fingers with rubbing alcohol to remove oil from your fingers.

-Make sure the screen is clean and dust free.

-Peel/open the screen protector.

-Dip it lightly into the soap solution..

-Lay the protector on the screen.

-You should be able to move the protector around enough to prescisly position it.

-Since it is wet there should be very few air bubbles if any, and if there is they will push out very easily when wet.
-In a short time the protector will adhere in place.

-Let dry overnight before putting the battery back in.

-If there are any imperfections they will go away completley in a few days, unless there is dust under it.

-You may notice some light spots/haze/white film in areas after the application, but any spots will go away in 1-2 days.

See the pictures I took, you can barely tell there is a screen protector on at all, not one air bubble or imperfection.


-Good luck!

Extra tips:
**dont go crazy with the solution, just dab a little on the screen and dip the protector lightly and shake off excess before applying.

***Also, I would suggest taking this preventative measure with your moisture sensors.

1- Cut a small piece of paper just a bit bigger than the size of the moisture sensor.
2- stick that to a piece of clear tape.(see pics)
3- Cut out around the paper leaving a little tape on each side of the paper.
4- Place the paper/tape over the sensor.
*never stick tape directly to the sensor because it will pull the sensor right off when you try to remove the tape!
Now you are left with a protected moisture sensor just in case something like this should ever happen to you!!

I still don't understand why you would willingly introduce WATER to an electronic device. Especially when if water does damage the device, insurance will NOT cover it. I think I'll just stick with the adhesive type screen protectors. But, hey, thanks for taking the time to write that up.

I didnt invent this method. This actually a common practice for getting these on. Many screen protector and skin manufacturers instruct you to put them on using this method. For example go to best skins ever website and read the instructions. They use similar instructons with soapy water. As long as you follow directions and use common sense. The intent is to just get the screen protector wet, if your getting more than your screen a little wet than your doing it wrong.

you think we dont know this already? if you dont have anything but nonsense to type.. go to omnia.org fool... Do you actually think the little bit of water on the protector is gonna short out a phone with no power source? Read b4 you post stupid comments cuz everything you said makes me believe you didnt actually READ the post(hes using adhesive protectors, he takes the battery out..etc.etc)... my face leaves more water/sweat on the phone during a hot day when im talking on it, than when i apply my protectors.
No wonder i dont post here anymore... :protest:

Maybe so, but they are not the device manufacturers, nor are they likely to compensate you for water damage.

I guess experience has proven that in most cases, judicious application of the water will not cause the device any harm. But these devices are not really designed to get _any_ water on them, at least not the ones I've taken apart.

What these screen protector makers really need to do is use a nonconductive, noncorrosive fluid. Having lubrication on the film to allow you to position it is nice, but I am still leery of using water as that lubrication (the phone was bad enough, but putting these on my DSLR was a new level of pucker factor).

Regardless, thanks for taking the time to write this up.
