Loaded new ROM, still no unlocked GPS on i910
So I loaded the official ROM upgrade from Verizon and the GPS would never get a fix using any location based apps (Garmin XT, Google Maps, Bing, etc...) so I loaded the leaked ROM, and a few custom built 6.5 ROMS and still no luck with the GPS. The Omnia I bought originally came with the first revision of firmware so I have done a lot of tweaking, upgrading, flashing and the like to try to get my GPS to work. Anyone have any ideas as to what may be causing this?
Oh, by the way, yes, I did make sure my location is set to "on" and I 've even tried manually setting COM ports and baud rates for the GPS and still no luck. |
Re: Loaded new ROM, still no unlocked GPS on i910
You say you upgraded to the official "CF03" ROM and then went back to the leaked "CC20" rom? If that's true, I would just flash back to the CF03 as it's better than CC20. All I've ever had to do to get my GPS is working is turn the location ON in the phone settings, reboot and put a check next to "Use GPS" in Google Maps and then go stand in my front yard. I get 6 sats in 1 or 2 minutes.

But neither the official ROM or the leaked ROM would get a GPS fix. Google Maps always timed out, Garmin gave me errors and Bing put me in the middle of the ocean...

Of course, and with a clear view of the sky with no clouds.

Did you change entry under Phone? Choose Phone then gps then location instead of 911 only. Reboot and it should work. Took me a while to figure this out. Good luck.

Silly questions but when you get this inaction why not dig:
do you have the phone enabled? |

FWIW, my i910 with the stock VZW rom takes about 5 minutes to get satellites; I sometimes have to try two or three times, but it does eventually find them.
