Putting sensitive data on the µSDHC card makes it available after a hard reset. To anyone.

I wonder how Adrian Monk keeps his phone secure? Really secure?

Myphone will soon have remote wipe capabilities also.
Sorry if you missed my point, BW. I said cook your own ROM. Or cook specific password protected ROMs on demand. So that a hard reset comes up with "Enter Password". You would have to cook your own or have a chef do it for you. If someone talked you into cooking them a ROM with a one off password I'm sure there would be an appropriate fee involved.

If it were in the E-Boot loader, they couldn't flash it either?

And yes, I overlooked encrypting the card.

If a spook gets your phone, I'm sure he would have the sense to immediately pull the battery until he could disable the radio. And get to any data on the phone. If Exchange or Myphone can't talk to the phone it won't get wiped.

But who's worried about spooks?

Y'all just wait till you get my age. Your mind is liable to go just about anywhere. Mine is starting to stay gone longer that it stays at home, though.

Re: Best way to lock your phone.

errr notice how it says noob next to my name lol. xposTech well almost 40 and learning this new toy. No way in hell I could cook a rom??? (Don't even know what I just said means?)
In other words your saying there is no real way to secure your phone. Taking the battery out they would be able to flash it . correct? so I guess just stay with the standard lock and remove any sensitive material daily...

Yeah that's about it. If someone were after your data then Exchange or Myphone (when the wipe function is available) would have to wipe the data very quickly (before the battery is removed) to protect the data. If someone were just after your phone there is nothing you can do. They will probably change the ESN (clone another phone ID).

You would have to know when someone took your phone to protect the data. So you could initiate the wipe. If you realize it's gone hours later then hopefully it has just been misplaced and will turn up later. So when you do find it the data would have been wiped. How often do you back up?

I'm a paranoid type (picked that up in the 60's). There is no data (now) on my phone I would worry about if it were to fall into the wrong hands. I've had a phone stolen before. Not lost - stolen.

I've thought about putting my RoboForm Password Manager on my phone. It has up to 256 bit AES encryption, depending on Master Password length. It's not on my phone. Maybe at some point I might put a highly edited version on it.
It would drive me batty if I had sensitive data on my phone.

Or maybe it already has.
