Omnia Help

Morning all,

I am about to enter the world of the Omnia, and leave behind the world of HTC. I am very excited about entering this new phase of my PPC life but would like to see if someone could give me some guidance on what to do and how to do it.

So my Omnia will need to be updated to the latest VZW ROM, so I can enjoy whatever GPS application I want to use, which in my case is iGo 8.3.2. Are there any issues in doing this, and is the Omnia truly open to whatever GPS app you want to use once the new radio/ROM is applied?

Second I am an experienced HTC chef, as I have had a 6700/6800/6900 at some time and have cooked various ROMs using the PPCKitchen methodology. I see that there is no officially supported kitchen for the Omnia so what are my choices? I would like to continue with WM 6.5, unless there are real reasons not to do it.

Thanks for the guidance,
Steve

Hi Steve, Glad to see you moving over. :)

Update to the CF03 ROM and GPS will be unlocked and you can use it with any GPS app like Igo. It does not lock as fast as the 6900 did though.

There is no PPCKitchen but Adrynalyne has posted his in the upgrade forum and it is updated regularly. The chefs that are on this site, Adrynalyne, bgill and I help out when and where we can. The cooking we do is a little more old school but it works very well and we use the latest and greatest of everything.

Feel free to ask more questions but I think if you do a bit of reading you will see we have most of the bases covered. :)

Looking forward to contributing in anyway possible. I am very hopeful that the Omnia series of devices can give Apple a run for its money. In my humble opinion I have not found another device that is as "consumer" friendly as the Omnia when compared to the iPhone.

Now if Verizon puts an iPhone on their network this will upset the apple cart dramatically but I am not going to hold my breath for that to happen.

Thanks for the welcome,
Steve

If VZW gets the iPhone, AT&T will go outta business! AT&T's service is only acceptible in SoCal, Nationwide they have been found wanting in compairison to VZW
