text message question

Hey folks,

My name is Jeff. I have a Verizon Samsung Omnia, as per the forum. I have had it for about a month now. The only issue I have besides the normal gps/rom/verizon software issues is that the screen does not wake up when I get a text message or email. I have been into the customer service desk 2 times and called customer service a few times, no dice.

What setting am I missing?
:headbang:

Your not missing a setting. Like other Windows Mobile phones the screen does not normally wake upon receiving a SMS.

To get it to do this you can use a program called Wake on SMS.

It's kinda funny, the vast majority of the posts about this occurrence are asking "how do I STOP my phone from waking up everytime a text comes in......."

Re: text message question

My previous two phones did wake up for text messages. I have the VX6900, HTC touch and the Motorola Q. I dont like how quite these dang phones are, so I just leave it on silent and watch for the screen to pop up.

Gentleman, thank you for the fast responses. HTC forums takes forever to get a response.

Y'all be good people. :violent2:

Your last phones did it because they had programs added in to include the functionality.

Re: text message question

Did you go to
Start > Settings > Sounds/notifications.
Click drop down menu and then select new text.
Then select the display on screen.
That should wake up the device.
I'm trying to find the reg edit I had for that, but can't....

Re: text message question

Found it.
Here's the reg edit I found at xda here.
It's listed for the diamond, but can be used on TONS of other devices that have WindowsMobile.

If you'd like I can make a cab that will install this, if you'd like a cab,
Please Message me as I sometimes miss replies to my posts in the new posts.
Also, please include a link to this thread so I can post the cab for everyone to use.
Thanks.

Re: text message question

I used the wake on sms program. It is nice, it lets the screen come on for sms and mms and not for email. The program works great. My previous phones did it from jump street. The Q had no additional software on it from me. The Touch did, I put wm 6.1 on it. Big mistake. Hence the Omnia now. Now I am just waiting on a copy of XP so I can get active sync and do the gps unlock thing.
