New Otterbox Case for Omnia

I never thought this day would come. (And sadly, this is the kind of thing that makes my day...)

Clearly the Omnia has built up a sizable enough following for Otterbox to see fit to create a dedicated case.

I've had nothing but success out of my prior Defender cases, so suffice it to say mine is on order.

Now that's a nice one, but Seidio has already had one out for a few months already - that is less than half the cost and just as good. Of course, I'd JUMP if the same manufacturer that is making the thin clear lexan cases and brushed aluminum covers for the iphones ALSO made them for the Omnia! Ah, but to dream...

That thing is thick. About 3/8" thicker that my Brando hard case. Mine makes the phone a little longer but holds a supplied stylus. Which doesn't get used very much at all anymore.

i love my otterbox for my blackberry. some people complain about its looks but it's waterproof, shock proof and dust protected. keeps your phone new!

They must have different box types. The first thing I noticed at the referenced link was a disclaimer that it was not waterproof.

nice, but how bout the one everdaysources has. Its a hard rubber case, very sturdy. I dropped my phone a few times with the case and the protection is perfect.

Too bad that's for an i900, not i910.

Link to the Seidio unit? I consider myself fairly resourceful but I can't find any Omnia cases on Seidio's site. I used Seidio stuff for my Apache and Titan and love their offerings.

Bro.. I got a case off of ebay for $3. Hard plastic on the inside and soft outer shell. I have a tank around my omnia!

As I said, I've always had great success with the Defender cases from Otterbox. They're not waterproof, per se, but they're rugged and great for use during outdoor activities. Tried and true for me, YMMV. I'll try to post some pics and a review when I get mine.

That must be brand new. Because i looked there like 2 month ago and Otterbox didn't have anything for me. But that is still sweet though.
Yeah, i paid for the 58 buck for the Otterbox. I know someone that has one for their Blackberry and its awesome. I would rather be safe than sorry, especially with the abuse i give mine.

Looks like this thread is pretty old, but I was wondering if anyone knows a windshield mount that'll fit the Omnia with the Otter Box Defender case.

Also, TheCellGuru.com has the Otter Box Defender for Omnia i900/i910 for $28.00. That's where I got mine.

Re: New Otterbox Case for Omnia

Ted, As much as I would liek to agree that not all i900/i908/i910 device add-ons are applicable to all devices, the case you mention IS - in fact -for all variations of Omnia i900-series phones. I have used one for a number of months - without issue. Of course, it doens't include a screen skin... we would have to install same ourselves (and have done so, about 15 times this last year - due to work related wear.) I finally DID give in, and buy an Otter Box Defender... and couldn't be any more happy. It has weight and size to it - that makes our thin and delicate style phone more rugged and secure. The built-in screen cover is a plus, as are the dedicated button covers. The Defender might not be water proof, but I feel far more secure knowing I can use my Omnia in any kind of weather - while on-scene at a medical call or fire scene. The larger size case makes it easier to grasp. I have added a black plastic Zip-strip through the thin metal pen-fob loop, and secured a 1" key ring to it. Now, I have an additional "secure point" to use when taking evidence photos, making calls or attaching the phone to my turn-out gear for hands free calls when in the Command Post.

Got mine from the cell guru. Fits my 910 and is by far, the best case I've owned. My only issue is the holster does'nt hold the case/phone as securely as I'd like...seems like it may pop out with a hard enough bounce...gonna try adding some soft velcro into the trough of the holster to see if that'll make the case/phone more secure.

...EDIT...

did the latter and it worked. The holster now holds my device very secure.

thanks for the cellguru link. it had actually dropped to $27. if Im gonna pay over $20 for a case Im not willing to settle for just ok. the reviews Ive read all over are good at worst, very excellent at best so I had one on my wish list but underemployed put it on the bottom of the wishlist at $50.
i dont think its ever going to dry out any here so I had to get something beyond oem holster and the price was excellent. it shipped today so I should see it by Fri.( Pa to Va via usps is usually 3 days tops, even in a blizzard)
thanks again

Did anyone have problems with over heating? when i watch my slingbox the back gets very very hot.I had the sling on no picture(shopping with wife and was listening to game) just sound bluetooth on and in pouch(holder) and got so hot phone turned off. so with the back of phone covered with case all the time it must get very hot.

check out:

http://www.ram-mount.com/

I bought both RAM-HOL-PD3U and RAM-HOL-UN1U holders and they both hold a 910 without hindering the power cable. I did hard mount mine on my dash, so I can't say anything about window mounts.

so you mean the otterbox covers the plug? i hope so because the cover on mine is half gone.

mine hasnt arrived yet because for some reason DSL ships from Southern Pa to Central Va via NJ and the snow storm stranded it in NJ

the case covers pretty much everything. membranes over speakers/camera/light sensor/and earpiece. flip up covers for lanyard and plug. the latter i'm keeping my eye on as it is the weakest point of the rubber outer cover.

it showed up. the snowy weather is now officially over lol.
love the screen in when hoster is on my hip and screen out when holster is on my airvent holder in my truck.
Ive recalibrated the phone, found no difference in wifi/EVDO/1x reception or battery life, ringers are still plenty loud and vibrate feels stronger. ive got a bunch of universal screen savers I can cut to size for the outer clear cover.
Ive taken some pix w&w/out the cover with 0 difference. so far Im loving the thing, even the feel in my hand
