On Vista, UMDL won't even allow you to flash with usb enabled. It crashes out UMDL, which I prefer over my phone.

Guess I am lucky that I have vista ... and to think i was unhappy bout it ..

I had disabled usb on activesync(Mobile device manager) .. and cuz I read that a hard reset is the way to go before flashing, I did that. That gave me 15 minutes of headache where UMDL wouldn't detect my phone,

I realised after a bit that after my hard reset, the activesync on my vista had reset it's connection settings .. so.. had to disable usb again ... and it was a breeze.

At one time, that may have been the case. Its not now.

Besides, its not voltage that USB is providing, it is milliamps.

quit picking on my dying breed of computer techs!!! lol and i have been working on semis for the past 5 years(way more money, and i get to get dirty!!)... so everthing is voltage to me now.. atleast you understood what i was tryn to say :drunken:

How can a HR on a phone reset ActiveSync in Vista? If I turn off USB on my XP box it stays turned off until I turn it back on. The setting survives booting.

I don't use Vista; just curious.

i think what was said that after doing the hard reset, he had to go back to the phone and switch it back to mass storage.

edit: went back and re-read the post, my bad. maybe the data cable was still hooked up to the computer during the hard reset?

Vista LOVES to randomly turn on usb connections randomly.

Its kind of stupid, really.
