I prefer Dr Web but it stays memory resident but at least you know it will find something when it appears. I am sure you can disable memory resident feature.

I can't say that I've heard of anyone ever infected with a PPC virus.

Because they can. Also, because people will buy them even if there is nothing to protect from.

At this time there have only been proof of concept viruses that have been created. No one has released an actual virus.

In a recent hackathon no one attempted to hack a smartphone even though a $10,000 reward was offered.

Same reason it is done for Unix and GNU/Linux. Because it makes money.

I agree, they write them basically because they can and to sell more products. I have never seen or heard of a virus made for PPCs either, but if your looking for something free, Flexilis advertizes that it does this: Keep your mobile device and data safe from loss, theft, hackers, viruses, malware, and spam.

I tried it for a bit, but drifted away. It is in beta and free, I am not sure if they will charge eventually, but it is free for now. You can find it here: https://beta.flexilis.com/
