Does the omnia have an external antenna port?

Does the omnia have an external antenna port? I am thinking of getting one, and would really like to be able to directly hook it to an external antenna to help with reception. Also, to those that own an omnia, how is the phone's reception? I would appreciate any info that any of you could provide.

so far my reception has been about the same (definatly not worse) than that of my 6700. unfortunately verizon doesnt seem to have that great of coverage in SLC, i usually never lose service completely but it seems rare to actually have full bars. I havn't seen a port for an external antenna, but my manual is at home so i cant tell you for sure...

I downloaded the manual, but it doesn't say anything about an external antenna port. I found an adapter, http://www.wpsantennas.com/359921-an...-sgh-i900.aspx ,but I wanted to make sure that there really was a port and not a mix up on the we sites end.

The port for this phone is located underneath the battery door. You will need to remove the battery door in order to access the port.
I removed the batter backing and see no port that looks like it would fit, tho that says for the i900 and i have the 910 so perhaps some difference there?

Remove the back battery panel. There is a tiny black plastic square at the bottom of the phone. Peel it off with a razor blade. Voila! The external antenna port. Just got my Omnia today! So long, ancient XV6700!

Makes me wonder if it works though. Why would they put it there, cover it with tape, then make the back not have a hole so you could use it? Do they really want us to take the back off every time we use the antenna? Weird. My treo 700P just had a small rubber plug that you removed to access the antenna.

you were a bit more adventurous than I.
on a side note I also upgraded from a 6700. I miss the support that phone had, and the keyboard, but loving the speed the omnia offers.

what about those antenna extenders that you can place onto the back side of the phone itself, that is supposed to boost the signal performance.. has anyone tried those.. this is what it looks like..

just a thought though.. they've been out on the market for some time now..

I used one of those "signal boosters" once, it actually made reception worse for my phone.

Swade,
I currrently have one installed. No difference. The old building that this office was in the Omnia had great signal. This new building is just horrible. I turned on the ole 6700 and got the same signal strength. Even with the so called signal booster, I get no change in strength in this building or outside.... don't waste your money on it.
