Auto Rotation Not Working?
Hey folks,
I've had my Omnia for a couple of weeks now. It's a bit of an adjustment to me coming from 2-3 of HTC devices (6700/6800) but I think there is a lot of upside to the device... especially when a kitchen comes along!!!@@!! I was a long time ROM chef with the HTC devices so I am eagerly awaiting the inclusion of the Omnia into the PPCGeeks kitchen. To my question... has anyone noticed auto-rotation of the screen occuring sporadically? Quite simply, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I can't really find a pattern to it. It seems to work more often when the phone is charging, but even then not all the time. I though it was s2u2 so I disabled it, which worked but then it went out again. I don't really have any other non-standard apps at this time other than total commander, sktools, and dotFred task manager. I know the accelerometer is working because the teeter game works even when screen rotation doesn't. And yes, Screen Rotation is enabled ;) Thoughts? |
Re: Auto Rotation Not Working?
Whenever the backlight dims, it will not work. Thats true of RotationService as well.
As to whether this is a feature or a bug....*shrug*. I use RotationService, so its pretty much a non issue for me anyway. |

I'll give it a look. Yeah, I was aware that rotation isn't supposed to work when the backlight is dim. Guess I should have mentioned that in my post above. That aside, I still have the same issue even when the backlight is bright (not dim) Thanks for the reply Adrynalyne. |
Re: Auto Rotation Not Working?
well, I've tried rotation service. but with the same results. Other than the backlight, Is auto rotation tied to a certain power status? It seems to work pretty consistently when the phone is charging but then only for a few minutes after the cord is pulled.
Any ideas? |
Re: Auto Rotation Not Working?
Maybe I wasn't clear. If the backlight dims...at all, then rotation stops. No matter if its the built in service or rotationservice, manual, or automatic. What I meant was that its a non issue with me because of rotation service---I only have a couple apps autorotate, and its before the screen dims because I am using them.
You must not let the backlight dim at all. Try this. Turn off all power management settings while its on battery and see what happens. |
