Question for those running WMWiFiRouter on Omnia i910
So I found this thread a while back and read through the entire thing. It seems like a lot of people were having a bunch of issues.
http://www.modaco.com/content-page/2...0/#entry943144 My question is how many of you are running this app? Can you shed some light as far as the proplems you have had with using it? I would love to not pay Verizon the $15 a month just to tether to my laptop once in a while, but I don't want all of the headaches that others in the above link have stated they were having. Any insight would be much appreciated so I can avoid some of the problems others have reported. |
Re: Question for those running WMWiFiRouter on Omnia i910

Hi i saw this thread while i was on my phone and i got it on there and tried connecting it to the iphone at work since att disconnected the network connection on it and just was like ooo that has wifi lets see.... But anyways i got it to connect to my wifi but it was as if no data connection was there even though i was connected through the broadband connect, is there something i can do on my end to fix this?

Re: Question for those running WMWiFiRouter on Omnia i910
I run WMWiFiRouter at my g/f house because she doesnt have internet access. Ive had only one nitch sometimes i get a message saying 3rd party has ended the session im not sure whats going on with that it might just be a setting i need to change but after i dismiss it i can continue to surf wirelessly it really is a great program. Some have said there are issues getting it to work in the first place but i have had no such issues just follow the instructions given to first use IntShrUI (connect usb cable) establish internet connection then disconnect reboot phone use WMWiFiRouter and it should work fine. oh and i use .91

Re: Question for those running WMWiFiRouter on Omnia i910
Using the 0.91 version, I couldn't use the internet on my phone using a Wifi Connection. Not sure why but I did 3 hard resets and reinstalled everything but the Wifi would not connect to the internet.

Re: Question for those running WMWiFiRouter on Omnia i910
I have the .91 and it works fine. Occasionally when I turn off the phone to charge it and turn it back on, my WiFi in the connections disappears, but a crash cleanup on WiFiRouter and a soft reset brings it back. What is the difference between .91 and the 1.20?

Re: Question for those running WMWiFiRouter on Omnia i910
It used to work for me--but not since my last hard reset. It simply refuses to hand out an IP address. Actually, I got it to do that, but I still cannot browse. Its not the computer, because it happens across two machines.

Re: Question for those running WMWiFiRouter on Omnia i910
Those of you who are running WMWifiRouter 1.20 or newer and are having issues are welcome in the WMWifiRouter channel on FreeNode: http://java.freenode.net/index.php?channel=wmwifirouter ... we are working on the Omnia issues right now.
I am not there full time nor is the chat screen always on my monitor, but I do generally check in every 15 minutes or so. |
Re: Question for those running WMWiFiRouter on Omnia i910
I fixed it!
I had to manually remove all of the ICS entries, and files that I could, which then allowed for ICS to be uninstalled from Remove Programs. Soft reset, reinstalled ICS, soft reset, installed wmwifirouter, soft reset, and I am in business!! |
Re: Question for those running WMWiFiRouter on Omnia i910
If your having trouble getting the ics software installed that would cause the wifi router not to spit out any internet, if you can try doing a hard reset and then install the ics first, reset, and then install the wmwifrouter 0.91 version specifically since that is the one that i can get working, and the new versions try to do other things im not sure quite why but they dont seem to work well on my omnia, i have tested several, also the 0.91 is much cleaner and easier to use of an interface even if it doesnt have crazy options.

Re: Question for those running WMWiFiRouter on Omnia i910
I've been using this since it's beta days. I've never had a problem with it. Infact the day the cc20 was leaked my internet failed and I had to use wifirouter to download the img then I flashed and used wifirouter to keep going. I live out in the country a little and couldn't get any service out here for a while. At one point I was routing 3 machines through my i760.
I'm currently using the last beta .91 I think it is. Every once in a while my phone will start doing weird things and I have to use the crash cleanup and everything is fine. As has already been mentioned wifirouter required ICShareing. In other words you need to install two programs for this to work. |

Re: Question for those running WMWiFiRouter on Omnia i910
This may be obvious to some on here, but just using the ICS program and a USB cable to your laptop is all you need to tether the laptop. The WMWiFiRouter actually sets up a wifi network to allow say an iPod Touch to connect to the internet.

Re: Question for those running WMWiFiRouter on Omnia i910
I have used .91 successfully with a plethora of different ROMs.
I always install ICS .cab first, soft reset, etc, then the WM Wifi .cab, soft reset again (there was a tutorial around one of the forums on it).... although now, most of the custom ROMs include ICS built in. The only thing I cannot do is log in to my company's VPN when I am using WM Wifi, I think this was resolved in 1.2, but I like .91, so I haven't "upgraded". |
Re: Question for those running WMWiFiRouter on Omnia i910
I bit the bullet and bought the WMWifiRouter program. It solved all the problems I was having with the earlier versions and I've used it to connect my laptop and my sisiter's as well. I originally bought the 1.3 version but it has now been updated to 1.5. It is really seamless in connecting and never a problem with the internet.

Re: Question for those running WMWiFiRouter on Omnia i910
So this bypasses the the extra $15 unlimited data plan costs if you have just the internet and email package?
