PPCGeeks - Finally got the Omnia ordered

You cannot belive the hassle it has been to get this thing!

Wife works for VZ and there was some major snafu on the order. For a while it looked like I was going to have to pay the FULL LIST PRICE :protest:. I was scannin EBAY when the wife called and said it's been ordered and I have the FEDEX tracking #. Should be here tomorrow by 3pm =D>

Thanks to this room I now have a mile long list of tweaks. I chose the Omnia over the TP. My brother has the VZ TP and he brings it over almost daily to get it tweaked or additional apps installed. I was able to pop the GPS on his thanks the PPC Geeks. But in the end the VGA screen is nice to look at but way too small IMHO and the device was sluggish.

So the GPS is really the only negative, I have my BT GPS dongle dusted off. I hope I will not have to use it long. But from here and the forum @ Modaco...it looks like they have given up or progress has slowed way down since VZ announced that they will unlock the GPS, but hell that can be July for all we know.

I'm not gonna get bummed out over the GPS, I have a BT dongle. So screw it and enjoy the new toy. I have been deprived of the joy of a Smartphone for 8 months since the wife joined VZ. I was a happy Sprint Touch owner and had that puppy hummin, GPS unlocked and was tossin a new kitchen ROM on it every couple of weeks on a whim. Since Aug when we left Sprint I now was the official owner of a Touch PDA with no phone and has had to suffer the entire NFL season not being able to catch up to games on Sundays on a Smartphone when we had to go out....I know....life was unbearable :angry7:

Ok...da Omnia....8gb plus the 4GB card I'm yankin out of the Touch.... 12GB of storage....I may have a hard time containing myself. Now on my list of things that are needed.

.NET 3.5 - allready have it downloaded
Flash Lite or is there a better version out yet?

I will hold off on sound/speaker hacks until I see how the phone performs for me. For the Today screen, I will play with the default widget for about 24hours if I know myself... I like the eye candy of the SPB shell so that might be on my purchase list.

So I just wanted to give a heads up, I should have the device by tomorow afternoon and by tomorrow evening I should be in here buggin the daylights out of everybody!
