I like to keep things pretty simple especially on my Today screen lol. When I put a picture of a girlfriend, car, anime mecha or whatever the case may be I want to be able to clearly see my wallpaper heheh.

Here's my dialer screen, I pushed down on the backspace (top right, red arrow) key so that you could see the highlight color of the keypad as buttons are pushed :D

And finally I use WkTASK as my main program launcher. For rare times I need a program that I didn't add to my launcher I'll use TouchLaunch to scroll through my programs list.

Yup sure am, took a few tries to get a look I wanted though. I'm still working on the landscape portion though. Say is there a way to force disabling the scrollbar on the today screen? Just wondering because I'd like to force the quicklauncher off the today screen in landscape mode if I can't figure a way to eliminate it showing up at all.

That I do not know. However, you could use Rotation Service, which allows you to specify which today plugins are used in which orientation.

Hmm alrighty, I might have to look into that if I can't figure out a better way to setup the landscape xml file for QuickLauncher thx :)

If I understand you right and you are using the same one I have you'll notice there is an xml file for portrait and landscape. You can delete the entries in the XML for landscape and you will not have anything on the screen?
