Auto-Rotation

I rooted my moment with ZE14.3 a few days ago and I am noticing that my home screen won't auto-rotate. anyone else have this problem? everything else rotates fine, and the home screen rotates if I open the keyboard, but that is the only way.

Re: Auto-Rotation

did you make sure it's set to rotate in your settings

Menu>Settings>Sound Display>Orientation

I'm having the same issue.. I have orientation checked in the settings menu.

Re: Auto-Rotation

Yes, Orientation is checked. I unchecked it, tried it, and checked it, and tried again. for some reason that's what I have to do to get silent keystrokes... anyways, still no rotation on the home screen.

Re: Auto-Rotation

just for fun, flash to SpeedRabbit or Joeykrims and see if this fixes the problem

If you want to theme your phone with one that has advanced launcher in it I believe it will solve this issue. I know my phone didn't rotate unless the keyboard was out or in an app until I applied a theme with one. The other plus to advanced launcher is multiple home screens(more than 3) is also working without a home app...something I really like, plus I think you can hide apps from your app drawer just not sure how at the moment...no pun lol

Re: Auto-Rotation

Just wanted to add in my info. I rooted to Zefie's 14.3 less than a week ago. The rotation works well on mine, so it shouldn't be the kernel thats messing that up. You might read through his notes and see if he commented on it though.

Re: Auto-Rotation

Well I suggested a different kernel because if the problem stays with the new kernel, then we know it's an app that was installed on the phone.... then it would just be a matter of finding the problematic app!

Re: Auto-Rotation

Whats strange about this to me is to don't think I've ever been able to rotate the screen from home. Are you saying you were able to stock and it stopped right after you changed your kernel or is it not rotating when apps are open now? Mine rotates fine when apps are open but not on the home app. Openhome fixes the problem like the Advanced Launcher app mentioned earlier but I'm curious now. I wonder if Elephant is right and it is a popular app causing it to stop rotating on home. I might flash back to CL14 and see. Only thing about that theory is when flashing kernels your apps don't change so if it stopped working right after you flashed, that shouldn't matter cause you would have the same apps you had before you flashed and it was working.

Re: Auto-Rotation

ok, I just flashed to joeykrims final kernel. still having the problem. I know I could rotate my home screen fine when I first got it and when I got the CL14 somewhere between then and now, not positive if it was when I flashed the first time or an app or what.... heres a list of apps I have downloaded.

[edit] I just downloaded advanced launcher and it does solve the problem... sooo one of these apps has to be causing it.

yea, I was originally able to rotate the home screen. and now the home screen is the only thing that will not rotate properly.

did your phone come with the CL14 update on it?

Re: Auto-Rotation

I'm about 99% positive that the homescreen DOES NOT rotate without the keyboard open unless you have a different home app like pandahome. I've yet to see it rotate the stock homescreen on stock, CL14, or 2.1.

I agree. I have seen it auto-rotate in PandaHome and Open Home but never in the stock Home.

Re: Auto-Rotation

you guys could be right. I am wrong every now and then. it really doesn't matter I guess, but it's kind of annoying... it seems like I remember it turning sideways cause I was using the virtual keyboard on the google search bar.

I had thought maybe it was just a weird malfunction. I have a problem with my virtual keyboard making stroke sounds. if I go to the menu>settings>sound and display and audible touch tones is unchecked, yet my virtual keyboard is making keystrokes. I turn it on, then back off again and the keyboard no longer makes sounds when I use it. if I turn the phone off and on again, the virtual keyboard makes the sounds again, and I have to go through this process to change it. I was hoping the home screen problem was similar, but evidently not.

either way, I have downloaded advanced launcher, which I like so far, and it fixed the home screen problem so...

If you are using the Android Keyboard then go to Settings -> Language & Keyboard -> Android Keyboard Settings -> Sound on Keypress.

I'm on 2.1 right now so the locations could be slightly different, but the option should still be there in 1.5.

no, the option is there, but I have to check it and uncheck it like three times before it actually applies the settings.

Re: Auto-Rotation

The stock home screen on android does not rotate and never has on cj05 or cl14 unless you open keyboard but pretty much every alternative home has the option such as gde openhome pandahome advanced launcher etc.
