No, it was notify.wma. Really annoying sound. I like the latest generation of sounds, the softer, more ethereal ones on the recent HTC builds and even some of the ones you can find on the Intrepid if you poke around. I happen to like Alarm1.wma. :)

Updated post 1, new lock screen fix to move lock slider closer to your thumb. Thanks to the good people over at XDA (with a link)...so far it's working on the Intrepid.

Hey Huas when i go to that registry path by defualt I get \windows\dpadctl.mid and I change to \windows\alarm1.wma after changing the sound value, I hear 2 beeps when I get a text message while in call. Am I suppose to be hearing the alarm1 alert or 2 beeps?

You're in the wrong place.

You are in HKCU\ControlPanel\SoundCategories\InCall

You need to be in:

HKCU\ControlPanel\Sounds\InCallBuzz

I am in the HKCU\ControlPanel\Sounds\InCallBuzz directory There are 4 items
(defualt)
Category=InCall
Script=Blank (after changing the P value)
Sound = \windows\dpadctl.wav ( this happens to be my default value before making any changes.

When I replace 'dpadctl.wav with alarm1.wma and test it I get some generic double beep and not the actual alarm1 alert. It doesn't matter what sound I put. Did you have a \windows\ path for the sound value?

I am not sure why mine is different, but I am in the correct directory.

My HCKU\ControlPanel\Sounds\InCallBuzz looks like this:

Category = "InCall"
Script = "p"
Sound = "Alarm1.wma"

During a call, I sent myself an SMS. I heard the sound "Alarm1.wma" in my ear. Try those settings.

For some reason its not working for me, I get a 2 beeps during a call, it like it not recognizing any alert assign for that value.

I'm not sure. I may do a hard reset in the next week or so and start from scratch; if I do I will try these and see if I changed anything else.

I've got this thing working pretty much the way I want, and I'm not getting the sense that very many people are benefiting from this thread, so I'll be taking a bit of a break from researching unless specific needs come up. Real work beckons. :)

For some reason that particular registry edit keep changing back to its default, I use the phone then go back and check the registry it has changed back.

So far I am satisfied with the device, I like it more after the tweaks. I have a few couple other things I am trying tweak then I should be good. I think I can deal with the 2 beeps for now, no biggie.

I am trying to find what reg key to disable the outgoing alert at the sent message splash screen. You mentioned earlier that you didn't get a sound when your message has been sent. The sound I get is the "stk_call_waiting"

My current sound settings are turned on and I have programs and notification(alarms, reminders) checked off.

This only seems to work only sms, this doesn't work for voicemail alerts while you are on a call. I got a loud voice mail alert while I was on another call.

Would there be any reason why my edits to registry would change back to defualts? I am using the Resco registry editor. This is really weird!

When I turn sounds on for receiving a new TXT I get that sound (it's the default). But I don't get it when sending, only when receiving a new one. Just tested my sending to myself. No sound while "sending 1/1", 30 seconds later, I heard stk_call_waiting beep while the message came in.

I don't get any ding just a DTMF tone you get with most phones as you push the green call button. You guys sure you have the "Connection Established" play sound unticked under sounds and notifications? And also turn off the "Connect Tone" under the phone alerts?

On another note anyone know of how to change the tone of an incoming SMS when you're on a call? Mine is deafening and long which makes me not able to hear the conversation.

It's that ding I hate and I had to remove it. It jars my fillings. It is dpadctl.wav and it should be banished from the earth.

yes, I have connection/disconnection tone off. And I have phone options connect tone and disconnect tone off too. Like I said, it's exactly the DTMF tone you mentioned that I can't stand. :)

Yes. Go here:

and look for "Turn Off Dialing Beep and Change In-Call Notification Sound"

Let me know if it works for you.

Re: Haus Intrepid Tips and Tricks

Is your GPS turned on (not 911-only mode)? Do your programs see the port GPD9: (see my post 1 for details about windows-managed GPS on the Intrepid.

miketab 11-12-2009 06:50 PM

Re: Haus Intrepid Tips and Tricks

saw your post. yes location is on but no program will recognize the port 9 has thw gps. even googlemaps will onlyh work through managed windows and not port 9. If you can figure google maps to work through the ports then I think that will solve my issue.

also with my sim unlock mention in the other thread i think I can put an att or t moible sim cadr and it will work. I place the phone on gsm only and it pick up a signal and said 3g on the the data.

haus 11-12-2009 09:54 PM

Re: Haus Intrepid Tips and Tricks

FYI it's not "port 9" which could be confused with "COM9:" (it's GPD9: ). Edit: I have two hiking GPS programs that recognize the intrepid GPS out of the box, without GPSGate.

Have you tried GPSGate, which I mentioned in my post? There's a free trial.

With your SIM card, were you actually able to make phone calls and connect to data? That would kind of surprise me. If so, please start a new thread as something that huge would deserve its own thread.

Hey Haus is there any way to get the task manager icon back, i accidentally deleted it from the start programs?

haus 11-13-2009 11:32 AM

Re: Haus Intrepid Tips and Tricks

Look for taskmgr.lnk inside \Windows. If there is one there, copy that lnk file directly to \Windows\Start Menu\Programs.

If there isn't one, then using a file manager, select \Windows\taskmgr.exe, "copy", and paste a link inside \Windows\Start Menu\Programs (not sure if the built-in file manager can do this or not, you might need Resco or Total Commander, etc.)

Yea I need to restore this back becuase my quick button for the task manager will not work.

Also do you think you can find the registry key to disable a incall alert when you get a voicemail? The same alert loud is there when a voicemail comes in while you are on the phone. You will of course need a another phone to use, so you can call your # while your on a call.

Ok,

This is NOT working for me to disable sms sent:
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=48783

And I mean sms sent when I start from today screen typing someone's name and initiate an SMS to them. It still pops up and says "message sent" afterward and plays a sound.

how do I turn that off?

Also, the start menu is driving me bonkers. I have to scroll all the way down all the icons to get to programs i regularly use. any suggestions?

The post you mentioned "doesn't work" because it's not intended to fix your issue. On the Touch Pro, you actually got an SMS sent notification (windows mobile notification) every time you sent an SMS. On the Intrepid, the SetSMSNoSentMsg defaults to 1 (the way it should have on the Touch Pro, but didn't).

At the moment there is no "fix" for the "sending 1/1" and beep* because it's Samsung's SMS program you're dealing with.

* Mine doesn't beep, oddly enough, and I'm not sure what I changed that made it do that.

Isn't that like having the phone on silent. That will disabled the outgoing sound.

Odd, I thought it just gave me a warning about overwriting an existing file and copied when I confirmed. Are you on XP with Activesync or Vista/7 with Mobile Device Manager (or whatever it's called)?

Haus,

It vibrates for me because I made my settings to do that, but it shouldn't even do THAT. It vibrates because it pops up a notification that "message sent" then it vibrates.

I don't want it popping up that dialogue, which is why it's vibrating.

How do you get bluetooth transferred files to go somewhere else, like on SD, Instead of \my documents\?

Finally, has anyone else noticed Bing does not make a sound when you're supposed to turn your car, on this ppc? Is that just me?

Re: Haus Intrepid Tips and Tricks

From your other post (linked to the TP thread), when this registry entry is set:

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Settings
SMSNOSentMsg = 1

This disables the Windows Mobile notification of SMS sent. I'm 99% sure my Intrepid had this set as the default. It stuck in my mind because on the TP it was set to 0, which allows the notification to show after every outgoing SMS.

Separately, people are getting a beep when the Samsung SMS program shows "Sending 1/1...", I think?

I'm offline for a couple of days, will look into it more after the weekend. It's solvable, since mine doesn't do it, I just don't know what the key is yet.

This is kind of off the wall, but what if you turn your ring volume all the way down? My ringer is on vibrate even when the phone "sound" is on, so my ring volume defaults to "0" (lowest point on the little bar).

That string defiantly doesn't work, before you go off line any reason why I would be getting the read and write error message when trying to copy to windows? I would like to try the new lock.cpr and the black start up page, windows will not let me copy.

Re: Haus Intrepid Tips and Tricks

This is weird but I think I found a way to disable the outgoing sound for the text alert. I don't know why this is, but you need to disable the new MMS message sound.

Start--- settings ----Sounds&Notifications---Notification tab, Event:messaging: New MMS message. Uncheck play sound.

I don't know why the MMS sound alert would have anything to do with the outgoing alert for SMS, but it does.

Can someone else test this out and let me know if this works for them?
