Size: It's a tad shorter (about a half-inch) and more narrow (about three-eights of an inch) than the Sprint Evo 4G, but it's thick. Not surprising, given the slide-out keyboard.

Think you mean it's a tad taller than an EVO 4G.

Even in other regards the phones seem very similar in size.. and the Samsung is supposedly lighter (cheap construction? I hope not)...

HTC Evo 4G
Dimensions
4.80 x2.60 x0.50 (122 x 66 x 13 mm)
Weight
6.00 oz (170 g)

Samsung Epic 4G
Dimensions
4.90 x2.54 x0.56 (124 x 65 x 14 mm)
Weight
5.46 oz (155 g)

the build quality is actually good..its just very compact...watch the dissesambly video...

also remember super amoled is 1 layer..while lcd is 2..also hummingbird is 45nm..they compacted it the most they could to achieve lightest weight, size and energy consumption possible while having the best specs

There is no info for the Pro version..but it should be similar to the none-pro minus the fact the cdma takes up more energy

It didn’t manage to beat the S8500 Wave but the Samsung I9000 Galaxy S certainly managed to push a lot of work on a single charge. Here is what we did with it over the 84 hours from its full charge to its battery going flat.
90 minutes video playback
2 hours music playback
40 minutes voice calls
30 minutes navigation
30 minutes general usage
10 minutes browsing
10 minutes shooting photo and video
You should also keep in mind that the Galaxy S was hooked to a 3G network at all times so stand-by also took its toll on the battery.
The numbers are pretty impressive indeed and even if they fall slightly short of the ones achieved by the Samsung S8500 Wave, the battery life of the Galaxy S shouldn’t be something to worry about. In fact it seems that you will need to try really hard if you are to drain your Galaxy S battery in a single day.
You might also remember that we did a dedicated video playback test with the Galaxy S – it endured nearly 7 hours and a half straight before its battery level dropped below the critical 10 percent. Nice, eh?

So you should be able to do 2 days with on a full charge no problem..

Edit: To note on the video test where they got 7h and 25min of video, the HD2 did 4 hours and 30 minutes (this is same hardware as the EVO )

I'm sorry but I will never buy a samsung PDA. I've seen too many disasters from the Instinct, Blackjack, ace, intrepid, and moment. I work for Sprint again and I see these phones come back all too often with trivial issues that are next to impossible to fix. The Moment has been great for that recently.

Instinct is a dumb phone, blackjack, ace and Intrepid are blackberry knockoffs...out of those only the moment is a real pda...

But even recently iphone and HTC have been having issues..personally all my HTC phones were fine but many report replacing their devices over 10 times...

Plus samsung is putting a lot into this release...so I think they should at least get a chance..and sprint has the 30 days return for a reason..so far this thing is looking good...and people have been claiming build quality is good too...

gTen,

What about internal memory? are we getting the 8 gigs of ROM/512mb of Ram, or
1 gig ROM/512MB of RAM?

Thanks again

Will pass on it. I like the keyboard but everything else about it seems Evo jr.-like to me. Will wait until Htc drops a Qwerty 4g phone.
