Why won't it work for this? Well first off the file size is something like 75-100mb in size. To large to download over the air. Secondly, the process for flashing a ROM is much more complex then simply install an app using a process as in a .cab file. Part of the process involves clearing the OS off the device leaving just the bootloader and little else. Not a process that lends itself to over the air. It is possible if you know the right procedure to flash a device from a file on a storage card, but by far the safest and easiest way is through a desktop.

i think by sd card is the easiest.......

download rom from phone.... extract the nbh to root of sd card.. rename rhodimg.nbh and then hold volume down, power and hit soft reset....... cant get any easier than that.......

Dave

I am going to have to disagree with you here. If it works how it is supposed to it will download the ruu to your flash stick. From there it will be able to update your phone. The bad thing about doing it this way is the fact that it will take a while to download over a 3G connection. I have flashed phones from the sd card and it works fine.

Edit: Ohh and it does say "Update Firmware" on the icon. The little updates would come from the Windows Updates icon which i dont think M$ has ever used...

Hmmmm. WM6.5 has a totally new home page. The old one you see now on WM6.1 when you turn off TF3d is gone.

Unless something changed since I last used 6.5, you hvae the wrong information. Yes, there is a new homescreen plugin for 6.5. However, it is only a plugin that can be turned off just like TF3D. The normal Today screen is still available if you want it.

That would be cool if it does. Any ROMs I have used didn't have that ability, but maybe it was just the way they were cooked and that ability had been removed.

I wasn't saying i was going to do it that way... way too slow. I am going to be flashing mine the usual way through the pc. I am just pointing out the intended use for that program assuming it actually does work. ;)

They all had the ability to be turned off. Didn't matter which 6.5 ROM you had used. It will always be a plugin you can disable.

what makes us assume that carriers are rolling out with wm 6.5 immediately?
recall that when 6.1 was rolled out, it took a wee bit of time before we saw it on carriers...how is this going to be any different?

The reason people think there is a possibility is because they just released their marketplace and that is a big selling tool for microsoft. It would be extremely possitive to launch all updates and marketplace at the same time. Yes marketplace is working now, but microsoft said it officially launches tomorrow. Other then that another reason would be because they made a big deal about winmo 6.5 themselves and everyone including microsoft has been blowing it up, nobody cared about the 6.1 update, it was a very minor update, i think all we really got was threaded text messaging.
