any wav or mp3 should work. are you looking for a ringtone ringtone? or just some sounds?
here's a link to the freesound project, where people create, then upload their own work. you won't find commercial material on here, but there are a lot of good samples to be had.

i like using mediasource to 'record what you hear'. lets me record anything i want, in any format i want. then i can use my software to mess around with it. so...record it, then just drag to application data\sounds
:^)

Hey I found a way to get free ringers on the Mogul. Its kinda weird but it works. I just go to the Sprint Music Store, and I preview a song. Take for example that new Sean Kingston song. I dont buy it, but I preview it. Once i preview the song for 30 seconds, I go to

>>Programs
>>File Explorer
>>>Application Data
>>>Volatile
---It should be somewhere towards the bottom...
It should say like DC045 or somethin and have the Media Player Icon. But I just copy and paste it to my documents and there ya go...!!!!!! =D

http://www.mobiles24.com/
this is a good site. It has ringtones and games and apps and wallpapers etc.
I think you get 30 downloads per day or something like that

http://www.funformobile.com/
this is another one. Once you sign up for free there you can send ringtones and stuff from the site to your phone or any other phone. The site sends you a text message with the download link to your phone like that other one that was mentioned a few posts back and you can also upload your own stuff and save it on the site in your account to download later.
