step by step instructions?

Hello all. I just got my mogul and one of the techs referred me to this page to get alot of customizing stuff for my mogul. Is there any step by step instructions on how to create these custom themes or atleast point me in the right direction on how to get these applications to work on my mogul? I have downloaded alot of zip and cab files but dont have any idea on the proper way of installing them. If anyone would be soo kind i would really apprectiate it.

This website is great and hope i can become one of you regulars really soon.

thanks to all

1. Plug your phone into your desktop computer.
2. Download the .cabs, .zips and .exes to the desktop
3. Right click the zipped file and extract all
4. Right click on the extracted cab file....copy
5. Click on Active Sync.....Explore
6. Find your Programs File and right click...Paste
7. On your phone....use your file explorer to find the new file
8. Click on it and run it. Click yes to any pop ups.
9. Soft reset may be needed at this point.

* For Today screen plug ins...go to those settings
* For themes...the file must be in either your windows folder or My documents

It's all pretty easy really.

The easiest method is after downloading something on to your pc just transfer the cab to your phone via activesync. It really doesn't matter where you put it (I usually install cabs into My Documents). Then navigate to the cab and tap it to install. It'll ask where you want to install it. For items/apps that appear on your today screen it's best to put that into device memory. Beyond that everything else can go onto your storage card if you have one.

After installation you can delete the cab. Then just navigate to new program and you're good to go.

I do suggest making a backup of your device before you start to install stuff. I usually make a backup before I install any new program...just in case something goes wrong.

thanks guys to both of you guys for the tips. So would it be better to extract all the zip files on the desktop before transfering them into the activesync?

what are the basic files you guys reccomend as a newbie such as myself?

if the file extention is .zip or .rar i find it quicker to unpack it or unzip it to the desktop of my pc then copy it to my phone, But if it is a .cab just copy it over to your phone.

.cab is like an .exe to your phone!

Ussually the .cab is zipped or compressed for file sharing!.....makes the download smaller!

Most of the time I download to desktop and unzip...then install. But there are times where I am browsing a site such as this one on my ppc and find a zipped file I want...to do this you have to have a third party app to unzip it via ppc. Personally I use Resco Explorer and love it for this and other capabilities it gives me with files.

Both Resco Explorer and Total Commander allow you to unzip on your ppc. They also have a lot of other neat features that you'll use quite often.
