Red face Re: [Mobile Shell 3.0 Widget] WeatherPanel (with current conditions)

Unfortunately it does not appear to be working here, did uninstalls/ reinstalls of both versions of WP-Activate.

Only thing I can think of is that I'm using RSTG ROM (http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread...t=weatherpanel), which comes with a version of weatherpanel already installed, wonder if your program is looking somewhere other than where the RSTG ROM WP is located.

I did do a secondary install of WP 2009, so not sure if there are now 2 WP versions on my phone also (just to liven things up!)

Is there a file i can look for and tell you it's location?

I don't believe WeatherPanel has anything to do with the refresh issue. I'm sure your WeatherPanel is updating ok - it's the widget refresh process that seems to be hanging.

Today, mine updated the widget sporadically - no real schedule that I could see. It appears to me that the Mortscript script stops counting for some reason - that's what I'm focusing on now.

I'm sure it used to work. Maybe not...

Re: [Mobile Shell 3.0 Widget] WeatherPanel (with current conditions)

Finally got around to installing this! Another GREAT app storyr!

Here's a screen shot of mine...

The only "issue" I have is the spacing on the icon. I am using the Pro one, but it looks like the spacing could be a little larger, and the icon a little larger as well.

This may be a resolution issue since I am running this on an Omnia (WQVGA). Other than that, no complaints.

Now, how can I change the icons to a different set?

If you're familiar with skinning MS, you can tweak the icons and text spacing to your liking by editing the WpWidgets.xml file, then re-inject.

AFAIK, the icons cannot be made larger - this a a hack of the Application widget, and it displays only true icons. 32x32 for QVGA and 64x64 for VGA.

The file WeatherIcons.dll contains all of the icons. I, or someone else, would need to make another set. If I can get this thing refreshing reliably, I'll produce some more sets. Granted, as I've stated before, MS won't display partial transparency in the icons, so I've built them with backgrounds...

Attached to this post is a potential fix. This version if the script uses the Mortscript RunAt command (instead of Sleep). In my overnight test, it ran every five minutes all night long.

Reading the Mortscript forums, the RunAt command has issues (not running) on some devices

If you're having refresh problems, try it out and get back to us. Instructions:
  • On your device, run WP Widget Config and stop the refresh ('Never' option)
  • Download the attached zip, extract the two files, and copy to the WP-Activate installation folder - Program Files\UranusWare\WP-Activate (Note: this should overwrite the two files already there)
  • Run WP Widget Config again, and choose a schedule
  • Check your device every so often...

Thanks again storyr! I'm not real familiar with skinning MS, so I can deal with it. But, if I do find someone who I can talk into it (or if I get more familiar with it), I assume the since I can't make the icons larger, I would be able to replace them with larger icons (like in the second part of the above post) and that would take care of it.

I think the spacing / size issue is because I am on WQVGA.

Also, just an FYI - I'm not having any refresh issues.

What ROM are you running on your Omnia? Can't get the install to run right on mine.

UPDATE: I've been running the fix all day today (15 min. schedule) - and it's been updating flawlessly.

Can anyone else confirm (or deny) the fix? If it seems to be working well, I'll update the cab download in the first post...

I'll download and give it a try. Mine had been working fine since I installed it last week and today it stopped updating.
