Do you need a Windows computer to do this?

A Desktop Comuter is useful when downloading the cab files, but really not needed. If you browse this thread from your handset you can download all the files in the zip to a folder under My Documents called Today folder on your device Storage Card as I have suggested. But no a Desktop Computer is not needed. You might want to view the tutorial on your Desktop Computer to better be able to execute implementation of the WAD theme on your device.

Re: My Today WAD Tutorial

I had a total lockup when I downloaded wisbar and got to the point of changing the wallpaper. I also could not change the settings in hhc home customizer. After a dozen or so soft resets I was able to get into remove programs and remove wisbar advance and wisbar dektop. Any ideas on fix? I would like to try again but fear a hard reset.

Re: My Today WAD Tutorial

It appears that you do not have enough system resourdes to ru the applications. Try this before attempting again. Click the link to Digital architechs in my signature below my WAD theme, and then click the Maintenance link in the tutorials on the left. After you clean up your device then try again. Also remove any unwanted programs. Good luck. Post back if this helps or for further assistance

Re: My Today WAD Tutorial

Do you mean the device does not have enough resources? I am running this on a touch which has much more memory tham a mogul. I have approximately 65mb available. I read on the Lakeridge site that some who had similar problems ran wisbar 20 seconds after startup. Do you think that might help? I am reluctant to try since I was very close to having to do a hard reset. Any other ideas? Thanks

Re: My Today WAD Tutorial

I am not familiar with the Touch but I would folllow any suggestions you get from Lakeridge regarding Wisbar for your device.

I was on the forums at Lakeridge. I tried it again today and locked up again before I could even launch it. . Might need a hard reset now. Too bad it looked great.

WA3 will conflict with the HTC task manager and will crash pretty quick if you don't disable the quick menu and X-button features of Task Manager.

And you don't need WA3 for WAD but you will not be able to make many of the function calls (cascading menus, task list) that are available in WAD.

Re: My Today WAD Tutorial

Wher would quick menu and x button features be in? Is it in one of the wisbar programs? I am reluctant to go for a third try as it has frozen twice now. Thanks for your response.

Start> Settings> system> Task Manager

I don't use WA3 right now as it might be slowing the os down a bit.

Re: My Today WAD Tutorial

Thanks Goddbody! I got your pm, and have been working hard to get this up. Have kind of boot-legged it, but hey! I will go through again, when I get a little time. The chess picture looks grey on my screen, not sure what's up with that. I have the WisBar Advance 3, and that may be the cause of issues (reading from some other's that posted problems and is using WA3)? Thanks for all of your assistance, it's appreciated.

I remember that I couldn't open up the icons in the attachments that you pm'd me, although everything else opened just fine.

herbster 03-22-2008 12:10 PM

Re: My Today WAD Tutorial

Thanks acarnut. I had a brain freeze on that question. I will disbale both of them and try the program again. I have the older versions of wisbar advanced and desktop. Is it possible to just use desktop to acheive icons on the bottom portion of today screen and keep hhc home customizer for the top portion?

Re: My Today WAD Tutorial

Uh folks keep in mind that WAD 3 is currently running under Beta. The zip file containing all of the icons, also had cab files for WA 2 (Not WA 3) and WAD. I dont like using Beta software for the simle reasons that you have been posting regarding getting it up and running. I cant tell you why you can not extract those icons? seems as if your having some serious system issues with your device. I don't think the average user has as many of the device issues that you describe. You might want to try looking into swaping that device out at your local Sprint Store. Just a thought.

Re: My Today WAD Tutorial

Mine is not a device issue but some sort of compatabilty issue and others on the Lakeridge forums have had similar problems and the owner has not found the answer to the issues. There are mutiple posts on "freeze or freezing and wad or desktop. The owner of Lakeridge (Chris) has never responded to my questions via email. Too bad because it has worked for many. I am guessing a hhc home customizer issue or memory issue even though my device (touch) has quite a bit of memory. I should have downloaded the trial version but I paid and it doesnt look as though Chris will respond to my emails. Thanks for all those who tried to help on this thread.

Re: My Today WAD Tutorial

OOps I stand corrected I keep thinking I am talking to all Mogule owners. I forget you guys are using the Touch. Sounds pretty unfair after purchasing the app and no support or email response from the developer. Hopefully he will find a fix for you guys.

Thanks for all your help Goddbody. I will continue to search from time to time on both message boards for a fix. I have run out of ideas to try at this point. If you hear of anyone that has a fix or think of any other ideas plz let me know.

I am using WAD on a Sprint Touch with no problems at all. Not using HTC Customizer, though, but tons of other stuff.

Herbster, please pardon my forum name. I don't believe I ever received an email concerning this issue. I do keep my spam filters set pretty high due to the fact that I receive more than 1,000 spams per day. So, I apologize for that.

As for the freezing, I haven't experienced this, yet. Are you trying the latest beta or the 1.3.0.7 version?

Just for the record I think "Chris" is one of the most responsive and interactive software developer/forum admins I have even seen.

BTW, I blame HTC HOME for most problems and life has been more stable since I was able to get rid of it. Do yourself a favor and get rid of the HTC HOME/Customizer.

Did you mean to say HTC Home, Because HTC Home Customizer is something totally different. I haven't had issues with either app. I have always been able to institute the HTC Home app into Chris' WAD WA applications with out issue. I think those having these functionality issues should really look at the other apps on their device to find a possible conflict.

yes you are correct I did not mean Customizer. I am too scared (and dont have the memory) to install HTC Home on top of WAD2.

Re: My Today WAD Tutorial

I think the problem here is most likely the Home Customizer. It's designed to look for HTC Home on the Today screen, so, when it reactivates "Home", it does so on the Today screen, causing multiple copies of it to be running simultaneously.

What I would do is first, disable HTC Home on WAD, run the Home Customizer, then after you've applied the settings, reenable HTC Home on WAD. This will simultaneously disable it on the Today screen in an attempt to stabilize the system.

Re: My Today WAD Tutorial

To the MODS can one of you combine my WAD Tutorial as well as my WAD Themes into one seperate Thread. This would prevent various threads on basicly the same material just new designs being added.
Thanks in advance.

I recently did a title search for tutorial and this just happened to be one of the ones that came up. I have stickied all of them and plan on picking apart each one until I can contribute to this community to the best of my ability.

This will be great because I have already started with Vega's theme tutorial and this will go good right behind it. Thanks for this and for giving other people the opportunity to learn and give back to those who have given so much to them.

Later,
Yamus

Re: My Today WAD Tutorial

hey im having a couple problems with this...first:

the icons at the top of the screen look very different, nothing like in the tutorial walk through (before you fullscreen the wallpaper)

second, and more importantly, when i touch the screen, go to New, Today Plugin, there is no option for HTC Home. There is an option for HTChomeplugin, but all that does is bring up the 3 lil icons that adjust the backlight, portrait/lanscape mode, and something else

how do i get the HTC Home in there?

first with the icon issues..you mihgt want to simply do a soft reset of the device. if this doesnt fix it you may want to uninstall and reinstall WAD do a soft reset and try again. Secondly, you need to make sure you completed the registry hack for HTC Home which is in the tutorial. You have to un dock the HTC home Plugin.. hope this helps
