Re: HTC Touch Pro 2 OR HTC Imagio

I got to handle a pre production version of the Imagio, it was a prerelease version that had Win Mo 6.1 on it and TF3d older than the version on my TP2. It is thinner but just as heavy as the TP2 and it is slightly wider and longer.
In terms of software it is more geared towards multimedia with VZW TV, rhapsody, and FM radio etc...
Also FWIW, on this version it did not rotate to use sideways, as the TP2 does however this was an older pre-production version so I don't know what the real released hardware will do it may be able to rotate to use sideways, but the version I messed with for a few minutes did not.
The kickstand is quite lame and barely functional.
I thought long and hard about the Imagio vs. TP2...in the end, I type too many long e-mails to use the on screen keyboard.
I agree with the advice above, if you can use the TP2 without the keyboard for a week, maybe you should switch to the Imagio...the screens are identical, I suspect that the actual production version will rotate just like the TP2 does.
Good Luck all!

Re: HTC Touch Pro 2 OR HTC Imagio

Nice feedback jlbusch. Assuming the Imagio has the same hadware internals as the TP2, then we should be able to pull the necessary software off of it to make our TP2 FM radios work.

I wouldn't worry too much about the fm radio working. at xda they stated that our radios will work once the unlocker is created. They said the hardware is there.

I could care less about it personally, but there seems to be a lot of people on this board that want it.

Re: HTC Touch Pro 2 OR HTC Imagio

Why do we want FM?

BATTERY LIFE!!!, using EvDO or HSPDA takes MORE battery then the FM Radio

COVERAGE!!!, where I live and work I have 0-1 bars and CONSTANTLY switch between roaming/noservice/service, which again drains the battery and screws up any internet radio app you could think of using

QUALITY!!!, sadly to say nearly all stations I have found on the internet for music i like stream in 64kbps quality... WHICH SUCKS and compared to my local FM radio station makes me want to cry! (additionally the station here covers an area of about 120miles outside of the city!)

and while not really a problem for me (when im working that is) PRICE/COST!!!, FM is free! the music apps that carriers offer is expensive, even more so then iTunes songs :/ (and i use Zune so more expensive still)

Additionally instead of using a 8GB mem stick I like the morning bits my local station does, which constantly caused me to crack up laughing (99.5KISS FM, also streams in 64kbps...)

Most of the streams I listen to are much better quality than the overly compressed and frequency response restricted FM stations, not to mention the excessive amount of commercials. 64K and even 48K AAC+ streams sound much better than typical FM to me, and I find they do quite well while I'm driving even on 1X. I have playlists with a bunch of stations and I just advance tracks to change from one to another. The programming quality is far better than most anything I find on homogenized FM. I also have the option of listening to streamed AM stations in much better quality than off the air.

I would like FM for emergencies. At this point I think IBOC HDRadio and DAB tuners should be included, but that would likely add cost for licensing.
