I think we just need to see more hands on videos of the CDMA Hero, then I think we can all make our minds up then. But for now this is the best video of the Palm Pre vs GSM HTC Hero. Part's 1,2,and 3

i played with the pre last night at sprint, i don't like the design of the phone at all. i like the feel of webos but the design is a huge turn off. i may wait until that palm pixi phone drops next month. as far as the hero, the sprint stores still say they have no idea what month it will be available. once i see some users buy it and comment on the speed and design then i may get that instead.

Besides, I can get both the hero (170) and the pre (150) for less than the touch pro2 costs

Pre it is. I'm getting it later today. The last straw for me was my keyboard going out (again) on the Touch Pro. I thought the Hero was supposed to come out with 2 versions - keyboard and no keyboard? I already tried the no-keyboard option with HTC Touch and I'll say that I'll never go that route again.

So it's the Pre for now till Sprint release an android phone w/ a keyboard.
