I just watched there full keynote at CES (http://i.gizmodo.com/5128163/full-pa...n-high-quality) and all i can say is wow.

I just purchased my HTC touch pro on Dec. 8th... is there anyway I can get a return to get the Palm Pre when it comes out... any loopholes?

yes, pay full price for the pre. there is always a new phone comming out. its not sprints fault you jumped the gun and bought a phone u didnt want.

The pre won't be out for months...slated for 1st half of 2009. so your looking at march, maybe april when it arrives. I see your already past your 30 days so your pretty much outa luck. Sorry man.

What is is that you like so much here over the TouchPro??

After watching that, I wouldn't swap my perfect TP for it.....

just checked the return policy, looks like I am out of luck. Dont get me wrong, I love my touch pro. Palms UI is amazing, really thought out well. There UI is based on HTML, Java, and css, pandora said it took them 3 days to make there application for it. We had to wait for WM version for how long.... and still not out for the touch pro yet.

Exactly! Perfect! Haven't had a phone in a long time that I felt was "perfect" yes the touch pro could be better much better but they hit the nail pretty much on the head with the touch pro. And to the OP explain what wows you about the palm pre.

I love my pro plus when the pre comes out the geeks here will just find a way to get the cool **** on to the Pro anyways.

What I guess I like is how the UI is fast and more optimized for touch, come on guys we all know WM is terrible at this... this is why we have skins for them. How you create programs for it is with basic HTML, Java, and CSS, there are millions of developers that already know how to create programs for it. I will have to wait and see but I think software development will be easiest on that system.

Its the UI I like not the phone.

i feel the same way as OP. the pre is just too beautiful, almost iphone-esque. makes me want to give up on my TP, but waiting until may/june is too long.

I'm glad they rolled with sprint seeing that this device is competing the iphone (they won't admit it) but they are. The best way to compete is to soap up as much people as they can. EVDO kills 3G IMHO and they know a lot of sprint people who depend on the net don't want to jump ship just to get an iphone. They can pick this up and have almost everything they want.

I hope they have some sort of 3D hardware support for future proofing the device.

Also I think the device will be the first EVDV device.

They just talked about being on speaker phone and sending an email at the same time?

Apparently the phone is very open to customization. You won't NEED a new ROM to get the changes you desire.

I have heard rumors that the Pre may actually be released by the end of February. If it's not coming until June, then I will probably buy a Pro off of Craigslist or something, but I am not wasting my upgrade on the Pro--or getting locked to Sprint for 2 years--not in such an exciting market.

There are some really cool devices around the corner, just like always... but being locked with ANY company would suck right now.

For Windows Mobile, without keyboard, I really like the Pharos 137 Traveler.

For Windows Mobile, with keyboard, the X1a takes the cake.

For non WM, I'd say the Pre is the sexiest device, with a great OS. It gives full custom access, with the simplest and most widely-known programming languages used for programs, and the thing is just straight-up powerful.

I'd love to have the device for a WM phone too... I love the form factor. No turning the phone sideways, opening the keyboard, waiting 1-5 seconds, (depending on how laggy the TP feels like being at that point in time,) typing a few characters, closing keyboard, waiting 5 more seconds, then sending your message.

Like they mentioned in the keynote, Palm has always aimed at making very productive devices. Yes, you lose a little bit of the "tinkering," abilities by going with WebOS--but that might not be permanent. Instead, you get a (supposedly,) much more reliable, faster, sexier device/experience.

I would take the Pre over the Pro any day. Since the Pre might not be out for a while, I might have to pick up the Touch Pro, or Treo Pro, until I can get my fix.

Maybe he is excited by how amazingly-slow WM is?

I see a bright future with WM7, but who know when we will REALLY see that--plus I have heard rumors that it won't be backwards-compatible with older WM stuff... meaning, you are going to a whole-new OS anyways... so what's the difference--other than WebOS will be easier to write for...

I'll probably get the Pre, and eventually a WM7 device--if they execute it well... but the Pre scrubbed all my plans of getting the X1a and switching to AT&T...

I have to agree on this. I just received my TP two days ago and maybe i dont know how to work this thing because its only been two days but i kinda like the Palm Pre over the Touch Pro as well. I LOVE the fact that Palm organized their open tasks as cards so it makes it much easier to maneuver. Also i dont know if my settings are all wrong but if im doing something with my TP and i get a text or something i wont know unless i specifically go to my messages...that sucks! I also dont like how if im scrolling through the links at the bottom and i go to the messages Icon...it shows the body of my text message without me even clicking into it. I like them to be a little more private. Again...its only been two days and maybe something is all wrong with my settings but i sure cannot figure it out. Ill give it another week.
