Swapping Touch Pro for Diamond
Is anybody else considering this?
I love the form factor of the Touch Pro, but I feel for all the problems reported, multiple of which I have encountered, the Diamond may provide more satisfaction. I'm not trying to create a thread that compares/contrast the Pro vs the Diamond, nor create one that list all the issues people are having with their Pro's. (A nice job of that is done here: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=45140) I just want to see how many TP users are seriously considering making a move to the Diamond. |
Re: Swapping Touch Pro for Diamond
i had too many hardware problems with the diamonds i had to switch back...but my pro seems to work fairly well. i learned early on that i can't use an onscreen keyboard for excel, so the diamond is no longer an option for me.

Re: Swapping Touch Pro for Diamond
I switched from the Pro back to the Diamond and love it!
Diamond is a much more solid device and seems to have many less quircks. |
Re: Swapping Touch Pro for Diamond
i have both and use the pro way more than my diamond. dont use hard kb so not a selling point either. sd card does it for me. jmo

Re: Swapping Touch Pro for Diamond
If I wanted a Diamond I would have got one.... you get a Touch Pro because of its form factor IMO and you don't get that by getting a Diamond.

Re: Swapping Touch Pro for Diamond
sd is a dealbreaker for me
hardware kb is nice but not necessary |

Also, how much do you text? The reason I ask is because the lack of an SD slot is something I can live with, I'm more concerned about losing my keyboard. |
Re: Swapping Touch Pro for Diamond
there are alot of people switching. i think even though the Pro has more balls, I think the diamond is a better quality phone.
|
Re: Swapping Touch Pro for Diamond
idk! i had a mogul then switched to the touch. and missed my kb like crazy! so now i have a TP, so im not going to make that mistake again. TP all the way

Re: Swapping Touch Pro for Diamond
Just made the switch not even 15 minutes ago.
WOW Definitely feels way better in the hand, and not just size wise. Pressing on the screen is very solid, no more creaking or looseness. |

Re: Swapping Touch Pro for Diamond
Good morning all i was thinking of swapping the pro for the diamond. I had a quick question though. Would it be possible for me to do a full restore with spb backup from pro to diamond? Any words of wisdoom is greatly appretiated.

Re: Swapping Touch Pro for Diamond
I waited for the Touch Pro over the Diamond. MicroSD and KB was deal breaker. Also heard/read that Diamond has MORE of a battery issue than the TP....should research before considering a switch.
I am keeping my Touch Pro...loving IT!!! |
Re: Swapping Touch Pro for Diamond
i actually switch between the 2 every other week or so. mostly because i like the diamond because it is small, but the pro for the sd card and flash on camera ( i don't really use the kb ). both are great devices and since they take the same battery i always have a spare

Re: Swapping Touch Pro for Diamond
I went from having a device that had a keyboard (Motorola Q & Treo 700p) to the original touch. I tried the diamond for a couple of days and still missed the keyboard. Keyboard, SD slot, and KB is the deal sealer for me. The rest of the issues others will figure out over time.

Re: Swapping Touch Pro for Diamond
I don't think it's good choice to go for Diamond from Touch Pro.
I had diamond before I changed to Touch Pro. I don't know what it is, but looks of the red metallic back just felt cheaper than the one on TP's. The diamond did have slimmer form factor, lighter, and internal memory, so if you are fan of it, I'd say go for it. Keep in mind this is only coming from my personal experience thougn. P.S. don't forget the TV out is available for the TP. GL. |
Re: Swapping Touch Pro for Diamond
I moved from the Diamond to the Pro. Had many more issues with the diamond than the pro.
|
Re: Swapping Touch Pro for Diamond
I'm sticking with the Pro.
Switched to the TP from a Samsung Instinct. Considered the Diamond, but like many have already said, the SD and KB are deal-breakers for me. Had a Touch for about 9 days. Didnt care for the on-screen keyboard. Abolsutely love the slide-out QWERTY on this one! I think I'll be having this phone around for a long time to come! :) -ProDriver77 |
Re: Swapping Touch Pro for Diamond
I chose the Mogul over the Touch last year, so it was only logical to go with the TP. I had a Diamond for about a month and although it was nice, I couldn't stand it. The sensitivity issue mine had at the edge of the screen made typing difficult, but my biggest problem (oddly enough) was having to take off the back cover to soft-reset.

Re: Swapping Touch Pro for Diamond
only way I will switch is if you put a gatlin gun on my head.
|
Re: Swapping Touch Pro for Diamond
I do consider it occasionally. I bought a Diamond and never opened the box. I decided to wait for the Pro and have been using it since it came out. I want to try it, but don't want to open it up and wreck to value if I decide to sell it.

Re: Swapping Touch Pro for Diamond
I wanted the diamond really badly, but when it comes down to it, i need a kb to type on more than anything. I send an insane amount of messages /month and on screen kb's have always been slow for me...
The expandable memory didnt mean much to me as 4gigs is a lot, and i never take my memory card out anyways. ALSO, the diamond is tiny, not much smaller than the pro but small enough that it was uncomfortable for me to hold (i have big hands). |
Re: Swapping Touch Pro for Diamond
I've come to like my Diamond but I still have opportunity to get a Pro for cheap.
Previous and nagging issues for the Diamond are: Low battery life- not as bad Juicy's and other people's kitchen. I can leave it uncharged overnight. But it eats up battery like candy with the Youtube.. Can get hot with streams, wifi and GPS use. Poor radio reception- kind of related to the other two For Touch Pro users who have flashed their phones and used it for more than 3 weeks, are these problems still there? I'm especially interested in members who swapped from Diamond and know the issues that came with the stock rom. Thanks in advance. |
Re: Swapping Touch Pro for Diamond
I went through hell for the diamond but then paid 30 dollars more for the pro and I can't be happier.
I wouldn't go back, the keyboard is worth the extra size and the flash for camera and lantern is wonderful. But pretty much the keyboard is a must for me... and pretty soon I will buy an 8gb card for less than $15 :)....and will have the option in the future for 32gb...hehe that's enough options for me to not consider the diamond... Well that's just me thou ;) |
Re: Swapping Touch Pro for Diamond
I did the opposite. I had the Diamond first. When the TP came out, I gave the Diamond to the wife and got myself the TP. I like the SD card (16GB added) and the keyboard. I haven't had a bit of problem with it and I'm so happy. She likes the Diamond too. It's much smaller than the Apache she used to have.
