TP or Ipod touch 2g for excercing

coming from a htc touch. Wondering if id do better with an ipod for jogging or is the touch pro light enough to use? i like how thin the ipod is, and some of its features, but don't necessarily want 2 redundant devices anyone with experience with both ?

Touch pro is both a little thicker and a little heavier than the ipod. For comparasion in terms of excercising I would use the diamond - that is of course if you don't need the keyboard, card expansion and video out.

i work out 5 days a week several hours a day with my touch pro in my pocket and it does just fine i know the ipod might be lighter but you can get the same features ast the ipod touch on your touch pro so there is no real reason to have 2 devices.

What are you using for headphones?

right now im just using the stock headphones i was thinking about using the adapter that comes with it to use some other headphones but these are proving to be pretty good also with my set up i have s2p open up when i plug my headphones in so i can just plug and play. i also have a set of bluetooth headphones that work great for jogging.

Sorry to OP for veering a little off track, but this could be useful too. Just out of curiosity what BT stereo headsets do you use? I've tried many but sweat keeps making them fall out of my ears!

just internal cushy style plugs for headphones. can you even get nice headphones for the tp? i hate the dongle adapters. wish they came with a standard headphone jack. have diamond now, but really want real keyboard. cant even spell exercisingright with this tiny keyboard(even though it covers half the screen

You can buy a straight usb to 3.5mm adapter that's a lot less smaller than the dongle you are refferring to. I think they sell them over at seidioonline.com. It'll still add some overall length to the headphones but it shouldn't be too bad I would think. You can find it here. I would double check though to make sure that they're the same usb connectors for the mogul and the touch pro. http://www.seidioonline.com/ProductD...=ADA-11PM35FST

I ran 9 miles the other day with the TP since I was on call. Didn't really notice it since it's compact and light (lighter than a small bottle of water). It negates the need for a laptop as it can VPN, RDP, SSH/telnet, etc. into work but in a much more pocketable package.

TP, just get some bluetooth wireless headphones and attach the TP to your hip in the case. That's what I do when not on the treadmill.

if your like me and just use the shorts that have strings you can tie at the front you will have no worry about this thing in your pocket. i do all sorts of work outs this thing in my pocket from squats to curls and every muscle in between and love listening to the better sound quality of this phone over the touch.

Are any of you using the case that came with the Touch Pro to clip the phone to your shorts?

I personally use a separate mp3 player because I am paranoid I will damage my phone. Bump a weight against it, drop it somehow, etc.

Regarding weight, its very light, so it should be fine.

+1

I still use my iPod Video 30GB and just recently picked up a super small SanDisk 2GB with built in FM receiver and clip (use that for cardio when I'm watching TV).

I still however have my TP with me, but it stays in safe places depending on what I'm doing at the gym. I definitely don't keep it in my pocket though.

Re: TP or Ipod touch 2g for excercing

At this point, I am leaning towards having both. Couple of reasons..

Touch is smaller and lighter.... Primary function is to play music...

Don't want to damage TP in pocket with weights...

Lots of Ipod accessories.. I can probably get a nice arm band holder or something

Pandora on Ipod Touch

Can use as second device... or even use TP as wireless wifi router

Battery life... If I drain the ipod.. at least I can still make phone calls.

Can use normal headphones..

New and different apps (like google earth) on touch...

I know I could just buy an Iphone... and have just 1 device... BUT... I really want the keyboard of the TP.. and I don't want to leave sprint to chase an Iphone.... Mostly the ipod would be just for working out... or doing work around the house.

The Touch Pro has better sound than an Ipod does?

Also.. in your description of how you mount your TP.. is it right on the waist band.. kind of like a belt buckle? In the stock case?
