for those thnking about getting the pro instead of the diamond...

i believe you got it watch this little video before making your decision. note that the GSM version of the diamond is a little smaller than the CMDA version. The Pro still the same size GSM and CDMA. i was thinking about getting the pro but after this video i guess i'll pass.

I will still get the Pro. I prefer to have the hardware keyboard. I have had the Diamond for about 2 weeks and can't wait to get a real keyboard back. I will admit that I like how thin the Diamond is but that doesn't make up for the lack of keyboard or memory slot or TV out...at least for me.

i thought the same but after using resco keyboard there's no need for a keyboard. this software keyboard is amazing and accurate. also single hand typing is great with this application. rarely i make mistakes.

What about that video changed your mind? I would assume you already knew a version with a keyboard would obviously be thicker then one without. As for one handed operation, anything that runs on the Diamond will run on the Touch Pro.

I thought the Pro was slightly smaller than the Mogul..why does it looks so brick-ish in that video?

lol, let me ask you this now, the iphone doesn't rely on keyboard but if they made one with a keyboard and twice has big, would you still buy it. you can do everything with a software keyboard and keeping the thinner look. when i meant about the one handed typing is that i don't have to hold the brick like htc pro and could hold the slim diamond to type one handed. This is the reason i loved my Treo 700wx because i was able to type one handed without sliding a keyboard.

my guess is because they are comparing it to a GSM Diamond which is 3mm smaller than the CDMA diamond...that would make it seem like such a difference. I've seen it next to the CDMA Diamond and the Sprint Mogul before and it is slightly smaller, plus it just looks so much sleeker, I cant wait to buy the pro and sell my sprint diamond on ebay...my wife doesn't care though, we both switched from the mogul to the diamond, and she would rather have a smaller phone...i want the slide out and the sd slot

i do understand your point about having an SD slot, which it was a mistake not having it on the diamond. but to me there's no need to have a bulkier phone than the diamond and 4gb is enough for me. have all the software, including mp3z, photos, and igo8 (with eastern usa maps) still have left 3gb free space which i still don't know what to do with it.

which version of resco keyboard are you using? I still have a couple of weeks to try different things out to change my mind about switching. Is it a full qwerty or the 20 key?

The specs say that the Diamond is 11.35mm thick. NOT. I measured it and it is actually 14.5mm thick. The Pro is supposed to be 18.05mm where my Mogul was 18.5mm. So I dont thing the size difference will be that dramatic unless the Pro for Sprint comes out 22mm instead of 18mm.

that touch pro is obese! LMAO!

Re: for those thnking about getting the pro instead of the diamond...

Why is everyone calling this a brick when it's smaller than the Mogul? To me the Mogul wasn't that big either. All those complaining about the phone being too big to put in their pockets need to keep quiet as well, lol. That's what cases and holsters are made for.

Re: for those thnking about getting the pro instead of the diamond...

Diamond=sexy
diamond + hard keyboard = obese
just added a keyboard and it becomes obese. I'll just use the touch keyboards. LOL

I wouldn't buy the iphone even if it was as slim as playing card. Here you are complaining about the size of the Touch Pro, yet you loved your 700wx which was thick as hell too for its size... hmmm.

Re: for those thnking about getting the pro instead of the diamond...

i really want a touch pro for the keyboard mostly. i had a 2gb card in my mogul with video, music, and cabs for all my favorite apps and it was more then enough space. this was before owning an ipod touch so all my media has moved there since.

i really like the form factor of the diamond and i might have to check out this resco keyboard. like another user asked, which keyboard was used to work the best and can you post a screenshot?

thanks!

Re: for those thnking about getting the pro instead of the diamond...

i have the diamond now and i am going to trade it in for the pro, just for the memory card slot. i have read a few forums where the guy's phone overheated and would not come on again. sure they sent him another one but he was unable to retrieve his info from the internal 4 gigs of memory. don't get me wrong i do love my diamond, but i save alot of stuff to the memory that i worry about losing. i have it backed up to my computer, but i have to go in every night and save it all over again because my files are constantly changing. i could care less about the keyboard or the tv out. these are things that i probably won't use anyway. unless someone here has a better way of backing up my files just in case. i do love the phone so i am open for suggestions

Re: for those thnking about getting the pro instead of the diamond...

the overheating is simply the amount of hardware in the tiny space- processor, ram, heatsinks, antennas, etc. the pro will most likely suffer the same heating up issues.

i too was set on the pro but simply dont want a honker of a phone anymore. the diamond does the same thing is a smaller package. and IMO 4gb is enough space. i have 100 mp3's, igo8, my google/youtube/etc cache, and 2 full movies and still have 2.5gb left. if youre truely a "business" customer i cant see a need for more storage for crap to tinker with instead of doing your work/job

Re: for those thnking about getting the pro instead of the diamond...

If the device overheats, and if the heat is enough to damage components, it does not matter if it's internal storage or a mocrosd. It will still be damaged if that is ur concern. The problem with the guy is he did not backup his storage. and backups arenever stored on a place where the system u backup is.

Re: for those thnking about getting the pro instead of the diamond...

To me the extra thickness is well worth it for the included hard keyboard. For general use and operation, the hard keyboard isn't that important to me. My problem is I do a lot of email responding and text messaging on my phone and I just can't get the speed from a on screen keyboard.

if you are worried about losing your files stored in internal storage of the diamond, then the pro can't help you either. what if you lose your phone?

phone is not a safe place to store valuable data. it is a temporary storage for on the go.

Re: for those thnking about getting the pro instead of the diamond...

i'm still getting the touch pro... before i found out the sprint version of the diamond is ONLY .1" smaller than the sprint touch pro, i contemplated giving up the the keyboard for a sleeker unit. After finding out it's ONLY .1" smaller than the pro, I was like "that was an easy decision, touch pro here i come!"
Plus i'm not a fan of the red back... it does seem to appeal to the female market though lol so have fun with that.
Sprints versions of the diamond and pro are almost like "his and hers" items... for him, the touch pro... for her, the diamond... afterall, diamonds are a girl's best friend. haha i'm only kidding.
+1 for touch pro

Did you notice that is a bit thicker?...by about 6.5-7mm (roughly .25")

what are you talking about? I WAS talking about thickness when i said .1 inches smaller... according to specs, the SPRINT diamond is .6 inches and the SPRINT touch pro is .7 inches... a tenth of an inch is nothing.
The only explanation for your response would be you're thinking i'm talking about the gsm diamond, which is .4 inches...
but i specifically mentioned the thickness and that I was speaking about sprint... did you even read my post??? lol

I have 2 16GB micro SDHC cards, and there's no way I'll change my perception of what I'll be getting next, even if it's a short video that explains almost nothing. The expansion slot is one thing that I'll never live without no matter how much bulk anything has. lol
