Touch versus Q and price
 

Sorry if this is out of place in this forum, but I would like to get some feedback from folks who have opinions.

I am going to be joining a new company and they've offered to get me a MotoQ phone (with unlimited data plan) and has push Exchange email.

They told me I could get the Touch phone that I wanted if I paid the difference (99 vs 299 is what they told me).

What extra items will I get with the Touch over the Q other than touchflow? I have a blackberry 7130 now with current company, it doesn't even have full keyboard, and I don't particularly like interface.

For a corporate customer, is anyone aware if they can get the discounts consumers can? What's the method to get the lowest price so I can decide if I like the Touch enough to pay the difference in cost (if any)??

The only advantage the Q will have over the touch is the keyboard. If you will be doing ALOT of typing, the Q might be the answer.

However, the touch blows the Q away in every other aspect. More memory, touchscreen, better customization. There are good communities for both devices (qusers.com, everythingq.com, hellomotoq.com for the Q) (PPCGeeks, XDA-developers.com for the touch) If you will be doing light to moderate typing on it...I'd say go for the touch, hands down. Its just an all around better choice. If you DO have to do alot of typing, consider the Mogul (or XV6800 as Verizon brands it). With a slide out keyboard and built in WiFi, it might be just perfect for you.

Check out all the community websites for each device. See which one would be more beneficial for you. One thing you might want to do is go to a Verizon store and actually play with each device to see which feels more comfortable. Thats what I do at the Sprint store.

I personally have had 3 phones in the past 4 months : The Motorola Q9c, the Mogul, and the touch. I liked them all....but the touch is just awesome.

Yeah man, I used to have an original Q.
It sucked :cussing:. No Joke.
REALLY LOW memory. Often requires soft-resets.
Worst of all. THE BATTERY LIFE SUCKS.
The battery life i have on my touch right now, is longer than on the Q WITH and extended battery.
I'd go with the touch 10 times outta 10.

I would take the Q, buy a used touch (craigslist or ebay), and then sell the Q as new.. and break even, getting the touch without spending the extra $200.

Touch ROCKS if you're cool with configuring it.. which you are, cuz youre here...
Q might be good fi you just don't want to add stuff to your phoen and just use it for basics

dannyppc-I couldn't sell the Q 'cause it would be the "company's". I'm trying to determine if I have to pay the difference if the phone would be "mine" if/when I go on to do something else later. Of course, if that was not the case, I'd be getting something new in 2-3 years anyway. I guess the real question is it worth it for me to spend an extra 150-$200? Is the larger/touch screen and bigger rom/ram worth the lack of real keyboard? Is there a _good_ free app to replace/extend the touch keyboard?
