Got my new instinct yesterday.

I bought a touch in november and I pretty much did everything I could do to it as far as installing apps and it is a great phone. I just got the instinct, while not being a pda phone, it can do alot of things. I hope their will be community support for it so it can be customized to my liking. It doesnt have windows mobile so i dont know. Anyway, if it does not get hacked, I still have my touch to mess with.:)

Im the opposite, the instinct is my main phone and the touch is for all my pda stuff. Yeah $130 is not bad at all, the best part is you get two baterries (12 hours talk total) and a 2 GB micro SD included.

For those of you considering a switch (umm... why??), keep this in mind:

Customer is totally wireless and works from home. Typically use their phone 6-8 hours per day and talk while the phone is being charged. Will the Instinct work for them?
  • Answer - Set expectations. The phone is off when it is being charged using the USB cable. However, the Instinct has a very long talk time of 5.75 hours and there are 2 batteries are included in the box.

Re: Got my new instinct yesterday.

Yeah I have a year left on 1 of my lines and I wanted to go into the store and buy the phone for $450 and they told me in order to activate the Instinct I would have to change my family plan to the Everything share plan. So my bill would have jumped from $70 a month for 5 lines to $190 just for 1 new phone. I hate Apple and I hate ATT but this kind of stupidity from Sprint is going to be the reason why they'll never get out of the hole they're in.

I would almost recommend the Instinct to people who probably wouldn't be happy with the bugginess and complexity of WM, but the required $99 Everything plan is a killer. Looks nice though.

It does not need to be the 99.99 plan, It can be a 69.99 plan witch has 450 minutes daytime but unlimited everything else. I would imagine if they don't already Sprint will allow unlimited data plans to be attached to phones intended for family plan use.

Yeah but you are forced to get the unlimited data plan, with the lowest plan starting at $70 a month. That pretty much WIPES out any cost savings you think you'll get with the Instinct. Over the course of 2 years you'll probably end up paying around $950 more for an Instinct than a PDA phone with a SERO plan.

If the Instinct was offered on SERO, then it would be a good deal.

What flame? I was simply pointing out what Sprint was charging for data according to all their literature. I think it was one of the few phones that requires one of their Unlimited plans.

My guess is that Sprint probably won't be as strict with their plans than the iphone... simply because they can't afford to lose customers. It probably would be easier if you had additional phones too (family plan). I'd be curious to find out what kind of "deals" people were getting just on individual plans for the Instinct. So I'm not flaming... just trying to point out what it will really cost.

Like I said, if was available on SERO, then it would be a good deal.

Re: Got my new instinct yesterday.

yea i have the instinct and touch as well, the reason the unlimited plans are required is because thats what you'll be using the most, they built the phone like that on purpose made for the "simply" plans, no matter what plans you choose for min, they all come with, unlimited text, unlimited GPS, unlimited data, email, tv, sprint radio, email, ect. so its deff worth it. I work for sprint and the word is as for the sero plans the instinct DOES work with them

I was just going by what is listed on the SERO website. If you select the Instinct you're forced to use the $99 unlimited everything plan. Maybe you can get a different plan if you buy it in-store?

No s***! That's freaking ridiculous! Who designs a phone like that? Are we in 1999 again? Oh wait, my Samsung 3500 could accept calls while charging.

Is there actually a good reason for this?

lilivo 06-23-2008 07:58 PM

Re: Got my new instinct yesterday.

in regards to the phone being off when charging that is only when it is connected to the computer. when connected to the wall it is good.

That's good news. Paying $30 for SERO sure beats paying $70 for Sprint's lowest Unlimited plan.

I know you can get outlook on the instinct, but how do i work the calender. Does it not sync with outlook?

Re: Got my new instinct yesterday.

So will this work on my sero. I have heard you need an everything plan and my sero plan has unlimited internet and texting and pics. I also have my Touch upgraded to Rev-A so I know a Rev-A a phone works on my plan. I got Sprint to give me an instinct with out making me change plans so I hope it works!!

Hey Gang, has anyone figured out how to add/create custom ringtones for the instinct yet?

Re: Got my new instinct yesterday.

didn't know about the usb deal, that's dumb.. probly to prevent tethering....

and 2 batteries are better than 1.. fewer charging cycles and less heat, both enemies rechargeables.
