The Instinct will be a really cool "phone" but its no PPC. Its another "iphone killer" but it wont even be close.

The Instinct will be some getting use to espically if you're windows based fans like the touch, and there are actually some 3rd party apps that are being made for it right now ill have to post that site in a min, its diffinitly not a cheap made phone imean, it has Rev-a, gps, 2mp cam, haptic feedback gives you that vibration tingle when you're pressing the keys when texting, and it comes with two batterys. These are just some of the features on it, I have a touch that i use for everything right now but ill probably get the instinct as a second phone.

To answer his 1st quetion. It is supposed to be $549 full price, $299 after rebates and 2 yr agreement. At least this is what i was told in the store by the manager.

No on to the second quetion. There is no way this phone will be better than the tough due to it's limitations and it is not a pda. But it does look like a good starter phone for those who want to customize certain things on the phone without the headache. It's like i tell everyone who asks me about my touch. Either you are all in or nothing at all. I myself enjoy the headache. Wouldn't change for this phone at all.

I don't see the kitchen crew scrambling to make an Instinct kitchen rom. It will be a nice phone for the "average" user and will probably be pretty cool, but for me I'll keep my hard-won Touch. I might get an instinct for my wife, though.

The Instinct is not designed as a replacement to the Touch. The entire project is designed to put as many cool GUI & creature features into a device that performs on a high-speed netowrk. While the i-phone has the cool GUI down, it only took a day or so for people to start complaining about the poor network speeds and missing features, such as music downloads, enterprise e-mail and high speed mobile internet. The Instinct will be the first device to really give a custom all of that, without ANY customization required (or possible for that matter). I have a few clients who hated the Touch and they will love the Instinct. They do not purchase a device with the intent or commitment to customized operating systems and manipulated registries. For all of us, there is a Touch or a Mogul.
