HTC EVO Design 4G

Saw it on Andronica... But a world phone GSM/CDMA EVO is tempting... Anyways according to the site, it'll be out OCT 23. I'll stop by a sprint store this weekend if I have time to check out the Epic Touch/Iphone and maybe this if they have it.

I think its spouse to be like an alternative to the evo 3d. (a review I saw said its replacing the original evo cause its about to be discontinued)
I had no idea this phone was around lol.

I mean I know its not out till like monday but I like what Im seeing.
The biggest thing I see is the fact that It can use a sim card lmao.
Saves me the trouble of adding new contacts all the first day lol

Aside from that, 1 gb available memory out the box (4 overall but 3 in use by the rom)
I think it said it comes with an 8gb sd card.

I was personally seriously concidering the epic 4g touch.. the phone is HUGE tho. Ive really gotten used to the 3.7 in screen of the tp2..
But everyone ses that the bigger screen will make up for the lack of a physical keyboard.

In anycase... Im glad I saw this post, It opened up my eyes to a great phone. I might just pick this up :)

I LOVE htc phones but I really didnt like the evo 3d. idk why but it just didnt fit right. Hopfully this one does.

The Iphone def did not fit my fancy
I was starting to concider either the samsung conquer or the epic 4g touch.
I was gana buy one sat night. I might have to wait a few more days lols

It also doesnt have sense 3.5 wich apearently a few of the newer phones from htc (not through sprint) already have this

When I was at the sprint store today, they mensioned in passing convo that virizon is going to be betting a dual core 1.5 ghtz phone in early nov.

If thats the case htc is prob gana give sprint a good equivilant soon

4" screens are perfect IMO. not too big nor small. Seems like a solid phone. Too bad its on a crap network!

i heard on android central that sprint was having financial issues even trying to get it up and running. IMO they need to fix their already crap/slow network before even trying to implement lte.

Heres the dumb part, they pretty much did a nationwide tower upgrade
Over the last few months there have been ALOT of people complaining about it and its gotten to the point that every where I read now, someone ses "Stupid sprint just told me that the towers here are being upgraded"

The ones here are "under comstruction" too. I had to bitch and whine for almost 3 months befor they finally tld me that the towers here were over capacitated and that there were too many users in my area and the towers could no longer support us. So they are "rebuilding" them to support us all.
Hopefully they give us 4g while they do that.

But apperently this was a national even
its like someone high up thought it would be a good idea to just get it all over with at once lol

that being said.. if they just repaired so many thousands of towers, i doubt they would be willing to convert to lte anytime soon

No duh they are over capacity, they had more towers earlier in the year which they leased from others. Then after contract expired their renegotiated to 3g roaming instead. So now coverage is worse and current towers are taking much more load onto them. It was part of their bright idea to save money.

well I already knew that, I had to use that on my brothers intercept to be able to root and flash it.

But I was hoping for a wifi tether
I use my tp2 as a wifirouter at night to play xbox live lol..
If its usb my xbox doesnt pick up the internet.
wich I think is stupid but I cant do anything about it as far as I know

Im kinda wishing that htc would make another evo more similar to the original
something with 8mega pixel cam and kickstand.

None of the new ones have the stand and they all only have a 5 mega pixel cam now

Id love an evo with
4.3 qHd display
8 mega rear cam
2 mega front cam
1.5 dual core processor
at least a 1gb ram
something like 8 gb onboard storage.
at least droid 2.3.4
and sense 3.5 (sinse some other carriers already have that)
maybe have a housing that isnt so damn square (3d is a brick with a awkward cam button)

That and I think having the charger on the side of the phone on the newer evos is dumb. Its awkward to hold them with the plug on the side.
They should have kept them on the bottom

Well then you need to root and do an s-off(locked bootloader) :/

Like the "HTC EVO 4G+" ? Though its not coming to the US :/

http://www.htc.com/kr/product/evo4g+/overview.html

ITs korea and closest HTC phone to your demand. Its like an evo 3d without the 3d and 8mp camera.

HTC - Products - HTC EVO 4G+

ITs korea and closest HTC phone to your demand. Its like an evo 3d without the 3d and 8mp camera.

Im not too familiar with the root process for HTC.. Im sure its WAY different then what I delt with for my brothers samsung..
Could you give an overview if you dont mind?

And I took a quick glance at that phone and it pretty much looks JUST like the 3d lol. even if it isnt 3d tho it still looks like it has the 3d/2d camara toggle.

In any case, you said its only in Korea, does it ONLY work in korea?

Damn shame we arnt getting this phone.. I think the 3d is pointless..

This is for the evo3d:

http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/htc-evo-3d...very-root.html

Rooting HTC devices is not as simple as Samsung devices.

You can unlock HTC devices officially via their site too but that voids your warranty on the spot (they keep records).

Yup, they(sprint) just wanted to throw in a gimmick to be first, just like the Echo and both didn't turn out so well for them.

I dont concider the evo 3d to be a failure or anything. I mean i personally concider the fact thats its 3d to be pointless, but the phone itself is pretty great.
it has really good specs...
I dont like the way it feels in my hand... and the 3d prob takes up alot of memory and processing power so I can certinly do without.

But my tp2 is getting worse and worse and I need to move on

I would totaly get the evo+ if we could get it to work here in the states lol

but that aside... im prob gana wind up getting a 3d :angry7:
if I would have wifi tether without root or paying sprint 30 bucks for sprint hotspot (wich is FKN REDICULAS!!!! thats the price of my contract for gods sakes lol)
then Id just leave it all stock lol
but alas.. I need wifi tether... cause otherwise Id have to bridge connection from a usb to an ethernet from my computer and by then its almost pointless :l

and so far the htc root is the ONLY way?

id say the 3d was nothing but a gimmick IMO. it seems to me that the sprint gs2 has sold many more units that the evo3d ever did.

Ya.. I would prob buy the samsung phone but its got that ugly interface

Oh and back the the Design 4g...
ew
ewewewewewew
EEEEWWWWW

I looked at it at the other sprint store and it didnt rotate to landscape either.

The guy there said it could be the magnet the put on the display stand that could be affecting the gsensor.
Makes sense...

BUT.... it only has a mono speaker.
I loaded several youtube videos for songs I wanted to listen to (things I always listen to...)
and theres only one channle.

There are many custom ui's for Android that you can install:

SPB Mobile Shell
ADW Launcher
GO Launcher
Launcher Pro
And hundreds more...

Not to mention many of the launcher have skins/themes as well..

That is if UI is your only concern...
