help me to understand processor's

Ok ....so I'd basically decided to wait on the Samsung within from sprint when reading an article today about processors and speeds caught my eye. It had said basically that the Motorola photon which has I believe a 1ghz dual core processor is for each core thus making it a 2ghz phone.

So how do these work? Is every dual core processor practically a double fast processor ?

Is one processor better than another ? What's the best one or ones ?

Again thanx to all replies.

Best 2 processors are the Exynos ,TI OMAP dual core, Tegra 2.5 > Snapdragon dual core > Tegra 2

And no its not 1ghz + 1ghz..its dual core aka if an app is dual core ocmpatible it can offload processes and make use of both cores..this can sometimes give you speeds above a 2ghz and sometimes speeds below depending on the application...

So as I'm understanding it is that both processors are running at say 1ghz but can only run acceptable apps that are rated for say 1ghz.....right k?
thanks for the input

Apps are not rated for 1ghz..the app has to support dual cores...each core runs a 1ghz for tegra 2 and 1.2ghz for exynos stock. If the app supports dual cores it can run tasks on both cores at the same time..so say 1 renders your character while another renders the background...

I disagree. Snapdragon > OMAP > Tegra2 any day and is tied with exynos. I would get either a phone with Exynos or Snapdragon.

THREAD PIRATE:

The recently announced Galaxy Note has the "Samsung-made dual-core 1.4GHz processor". What processor did Samsung make?

I am assuming the "EXYNOS" since that is in the GS2, this correct?

The new TI OMAP is actually pretty awesome...also the thing about exynoss and ti omap is the bundling of 800mhz dual channel ram...while snapdragon is stuck with 233mhz single channel ram..
