Arrive vs. Evo Shift
I am upgrading from my TP2. I had a chance to briefly play with each of these in the store the other day. Both are vastly different OS from WinMo6.5. I use my phone in a business sense, 4 email accts, text, pics, web, MSWord, MS Excel. I want a device thats FAST and wont crash or lag like my TP2 does. I also want a phone that cruises the web well, and will goto any webpage, not just certain "approved" pages and show some of the content.
I like how I can open my email acct's on the TP2 and scroll left or right and see my next emaiul acct. I love the web browsing capabilities, minus the slowness and no flash of my TP2. Which phone and why do you recommend that for me? |
Re: Arrive vs. Evo Shift
have a tp2 and had a shift and hated it compared to epic i use as daily drive and played with arrive but i would take arrive over shift but if you throw epic in your choices then take the epic, why is epic not a choice? if arrive had bigger screen than tp2 it would impress me more.

Don't know much about arrive but I was a huge wm fanboy forever. Now I use the evo4g. The only advantage I see a windows phone has over Android is the ms office content if u need it. Exel and word and such. I love me some Android now and probably won't go back to wm but I don't like the office like apps that I have used in Android. I used Samsung moment for awhile and the older version of documents to go was worth using. I can't get the new one to work right for me.

Re: Arrive vs. Evo Shift
Im partial to HTC devices. I love my WinMo phone, and like that its the odd duck out right now, which makes me want it more.
Just not sure the WP7 platofrm is speedy and bug freeenough for me? I dont need anothr phone that bogs, freezes and crashes on me. I do need seamless email, and ability to open MS Office docs and .pdf files on the phone, as well as large attachments. Do either of these offer the ability to Bold/italicise/underline and color text in emails? Or still B&W like the TP2? |
Re: Arrive vs. Evo Shift
Here is a video of thinkfree office for android:

They have a free version as well but you can't modify docs in the free version. It goes for 22$ and $15 on sale... There is also Documents to Go 3 which also goes for $15 Edit: Oh there is QuickOffice Pro as well which goes for 8$ Did a quick Google and there is also OliveOfficePremium which is free, but dont know how good it is.. |
Re: Arrive vs. Evo Shift
Based on OS and specs alone, is each phone a major upgrade from the TP2? Or is the Shift ahead of the WP7?

I wish the HD2 was CDMA. I find that to be the only phone I would give up my TP2 for. It has great specs and it can run all newer OS options, and probably some more in the future! :notworthy: |

Re: Arrive vs. Evo Shift
definitely go for the arrive. I've had it since launch and I'm enjoying every minute of it and can hardly put it down. it is very stable, doesn't lag and hang at all. it also has everything u are looking for as far as office goes. and besides Android has way more than enough tp2 converts(traitors?) its time for wp7 to get some. ull also be using an OS that is much more secure, authentic and not based on stolen code.

1) TP2 people that swapped were not traitors...M$ betrayed first....loyalty lay with winmo, when M$ dumped winmo thats when it was fair game... 2) Why do you assume WP7 is more secure? Android 2.2.1+ has exchange encryption support via pin and ability to remotely wipe via exchange server policies if device is lost..WP7 does not from what I read (correct me if I'm wrong).. As of 3.0 Android is also getting full device encryption... Don't get me wrong winmo is secure, prob more secure then android until the 3.0 hits..but WP7 is not meant for businesses yet..so its not as secure... 3) There is no stolen code...the code you are talking about is not even used directly in android, and if they are found guilty they will end up paying licensing fees...its not uncommon.as I told you before M$ also stole code on many occasions and ended up just paying licensing fees..or settling and making a workaround.. That said, the court case hasn't taken place so..innocent until proven guilty... |
Re: Arrive vs. Evo Shift
Through Windows Live you can
Map it See your phone's approximate location on a map. Ring it Ring your phone for one minute using a special ringtone even if it's on silent or vibrate mode. Lock it Lock your phone so that nobody else can use it. You can also put a "please return" note on the screen. Erase it Remove all the information on your phone and reset it to the factory settings. |
