Its not a crippled Epic..its a Moment with a different look and an LCD...that and a none working front camera I hear >.>

Its definitely not a bad phone. Also people with the transform don't have to worry about the $10 cool tax if they don't even have access to 4g. If htc came out with a 3g phone with like specs I would sell my evo and change phones in a heartbeat. I have used 4g once and signal was horrible with same speeds as 3g. When they improve 4g then it will be worth it. Luckily with my family plan I only pay 32 and change per line which makes it okay to have the evo.

hell it aint, looks just like it with less speed/4g, its my opinion. even articles call it little epic. has a ffcam why you say no work? here they call it a mini epic but it is crippled

Samsung Transform, first hands-on! -- Engadget

Samsung Transform review -- Engadget

Quote:

Perhaps most confusingly, the front-facing camera totally failed to respond to any of the video chat applications we tried -- Qik, Fring and Tango all failed, and one of the three actually stated that required hardware wasn't present on the phone. Tango's a bit of a newcomer, sure, but Qik and Fring are de facto video chat applications of choice on Android, and we were shocked to see neither working on a front-facing camera device.

We also noticed that 3D apps chugged tremendously, and certain games wouldn't run at all. We ran a few tests but soon got confirmation from Sprint itself: the Transform's S3C6410 processor doesn't support hardware acceleration for OpenGL.
yes you heard that..no hardware acceleration...think back to windows mobile...

Its pretty much a Samsung Moment with a changed screen >.>

I know..I'm just saying to call this a crippled Epic would be an insult to the Epic ;) lol...thats why I call it a re-branded Moment >.>

1) This phone looks terrible, I wouldn't buy it with gTen's money.

2) Moved to Phone Comparison forum.

3) Chipotle sounds sooo good right now.

I considered it for my wife... Definitelly not a phone for nerds... It would be a good intro to Android but that's about it.
Luckily Sprint has something for alot of different people.
My wife could NEVER see herself carrying a friggin Tablet like the EPIC. I woulnd't go Android... But she would... So this might be an option for her.

And lastly... Chipotle is good morning noon or night.

I think so too... It looks nice. I haven't seen either in person... But I have a bit over a month to shop for a new phone... I'll have to go check it out and do a side by side after 10/31... I know she won't like the pre 2 though.
She hated the keyboard. She's got a TP now but only uses the basic functions. She's only had it replaced once in over a year. I went through 7 or 8 in one year. LOL.

I'll tell you this..if you dont need the keyboard that sanyo and LG phone are a lot better >.>

Re: Samsung Transform

I know... That's my problem... She wants a keyboard... She wants a camera with a flash... And she wants a headphone jack...
The pre would have been perfect... She hates the keyboard on the pre... Feels like a toy. lol.
She's getting something and she's gonna like it. LOL... She's dropped the TP a few times and it looks like crap. She wants a new phone badly.
p.

Moment == Intercept == Transform

All they did is play around with the design and the front screen...

The Epic is the way to go >.> lol..I was gonna get a transform too on another line but after seeing the same crappy processor used it made me sad :/

I showed her the epic...
Too big.
lol.

I think I'm just gonna order her a refurb TP. LOL.

maybe..cause Samsung Moment and Intercept are 3.2" screens...Transform has a 3.5" screen...so it will be pretty much TP2 size....

Re: Samsung Transform

Yeah... She hasn't seen the transform (nor have I in person) But I'm thinking if she thinks my TP2 is big... She may not go for it. The thing is that I'm the one that has to deal with this. Her eyes glase over if we step into the Sprint store.
I have to find her phone and take her in and tell her... This is what I'm getting you.
Then she tells me if it's too big or whatever. LOL.
I think I spoil her too much.
It's gonna be the transform or the Blackberry style. She was considering a blacberry but doesn't like that it doesn't have a tuch screen.
AAAAAAAAAAAAaaaggggghhhhhhhh.
Hehehe.

I got an easy mod solution you can do...get her glasses/contacts that shrink everything..thus all phones look smaller! lol

if size is an issue maybe a Samsung Intercept...as I said its same thing but has 3.2 screensize. (and you can get it for 5$ on 2 year contract)

Sanyo & LG= 600mhz vs Transform's 800mhz processor, what make those better?

My wife is the same and has been complaining about getting a new phone for a year now. She basically wants an Android on Sprint that's the same size as her Touch Diamond :violent1:

Its an example of mhz/ghz != better...the 600mhz chips inside are downclocked versions of snapdragons found in an EVO...including Adreno 200 chip capable of 22 million triangles/sec and opengl/hardware acceleration support...the one found inside the transform is pretty much like a TP chip clocked at 800mhz..with NO hardware acceleration thus can't take any advantage of Froyo and a mere I think 4 million triangles processor...aka the 600mhz chip will fly circles around it.

Thanks, haven't really looked into those because as soon as I saw the slow clock speed I wasn't interested. Maybe now I'll wait to see what support they get in the forums and might pick one up :)

Was looking to have a forum to be added for it, but an admin moved it from the "add a phone" forum to here...

I ended up buying one a few days ago and am impressed... Generally it seems to be a better phone than the Touch Pro I was using before... The only app I can't find a good replacement for is a networkless (for use when I am not near cell towers) GPS program... I miss Garmin...

I did not want a bigger phone or to pay an additional $10 a month since I don't get 4G at home... Now to wait for Froyo...

Might try copilot. I think it's $5 and you save maps on your sd.
