Buying a phone for a friend (and possibly myself as well), need suggestions

A friend of mine (my ex, actually) is interested in a PocketPC/PDA-type phone. She asked me about the iPhone but I explained to her that she would have to switch to a GSM carrier to use it, and she and I currently use Cricket. I currently have a Verizon Vogue fully flashed to Cricket, and I showed her some of the features, and what she likes about it is the "organizer" capabilities of it. She's currently in grad school and will be working as a therapist once she finishes, and she would like a phone that is easy to use and navigate, help her keep track of appointments, take notes and aid in her research in school and work. I think a good phone for her would be something like the Touch Pro 2 or Droid because of the apps available and ease of use, but also the touch screen and hardware keyboard makes it simple to navigate and type. But those are kind of pricey and she has the tendency to drop phones in bathtubs and toilets and whatnot. She really needs something that is inexpensive yet can provide a lot of functions. So what would be a good phone for her?

I'd go with a diamond, flashed for cricket, with EZinput 1.5 and swype you can get her typing pretty fast, and you can get one for $100-$120 if you look on craigslist and other places.

A BB would be good too, but I think with a diamond she'd be happier with the bigger VGA touch screen as well.

Ok, thanks for the tip. I'll check out the Diamond then.

My diamond is my life! I have all my calendar, contacts, tasks, doc's, excel files, etc. I love it and couldn't live without it! I'd go with that for her. :)

BBs are good, but I think you'd get tired of the limitations of the device, plus they come out with a new model like every 2 hours.
