What will your next phone be?

I had a Mogul. Now I have Touch Pro.

Even with more than 4 times the RAM, the Touch Pro is still laggy as hell. There are times I miss calls because the phone can't get its sh1t together fast enough for me to push "Answer" before the call goes to voicemail. That is seriously jacked up.

I have seen the Samsung Omnia in person, and the screen is AWESOMELY responsive. No dead areas around the edge or need to press super hard. The phone itself is extremely responsive as well. It's still a WinMo phone, so I think HTC is the problem here, not WinMo.

I think this is the last HTC phone I buy. I don't have any reason to believe that the TP2 is any better than the TP other than the obvious larger screen.

My next phone will have to have a 3.6 inch "large" screen. There's no longer any reason for a phone to still come with the same size screen as on the TP.

I think I will go for a Samsung phone because of the nice screen and fast speed I've seen on the Omnia. The omnia only has 128MB RAM by the way, and it kicks the TP's ass in terms of speed.

My only question now is if I stick with WinMo, or jump ship to Android. I like what I've seen of Android, but Sprint's current Android phones suck. The only one with a large screen has no slide out keyboard. I need a slide out keyboard for sure. So basically, there are no good Sprint phones right now, which is why I'm still holding onto my TP. Not going to waste money on another slow POS HTC phone like the TP2, and they don't have any big screen android phones with slide out keyboards.

You can get the Samsung Moment, it's a Sprint Android phone with a slide-out keyboard.

The Hero and moment have the same size screen. i've played with both and would probably go with the moment because it seems more responsive. Sure it'd be nice to have droid like specs with a sprint phone (on Sero) but that ain't going to happen for awhile. My next phone will probably be a TP2 so i can hang onto SERO a little longer and then as soon as a 3.5"+, snapdragon or equivalent, android, preferably HTC w/ sense phone comes i will switch to a regular plan for it. keyboard or keyboardless.

The only reason the Touch Pro is slow is because Windows Mobile is probably the shittiest mobile OS you can have.

Load up the Pro with Android, and see how fast it is compared to running WinMo.

I can't wait til devs finally finish a port for the CDMA version.

Re: What will your next phone be?

i thought the Hero was fairly quick, and it is compared to windows mobile, but not its not as fast as the moment b/c 1. moment has 300 mhz more under the hood and 2. while Sense is nice and its the reason i went with the hero not the moment it does slow things down a bit.
now as for htc being to common denominator in slowing things down, it wouldn't surprise me, as Sense (albeit rare) does have some problems just like touchflo does
now i haven't seen it myself but even though the TP2 is riding the same processor as the TP1 I've heard HTC tweaked touchflo to make it not such a gas hog so the whole phone runs smoother, from what i've heard
now that i'm done defending to answer the question, i figure my next phone will be something along the lines of the HD2 or Dragon but no Windows mobile until Mobile 7 comes out
