Oh, and everyone should start looking at the raphael kernels. since it gets that far.
maybe less fixes idk.

I made a thread at http://htc-android.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=529 to see if we can collaborate communities.

Could you outline what you did to get to that point? It'd be easier to tweak than replicate.

Re: Interested in helping Linux/Android development?

BTW, I used one of the kernels from here:

http://www.connect-utb.com/index.php...tc-raphael-old

I think I used this one in the video:

http://www.connect-utb.com/index.php...-htc-touch-pro

ADDED: Ok, they have Android ported to the Treo 650.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3NvD4AHig0g

Isn't there any way to take that kernel and rootfs, and boot it on the Treo Pro?

Re: Interested in helping Linux/Android development?

The treo line means nothing, it's the chipset / hardware, which is htc made.

So how come the diamond kernel look like such a large resolution? its only 320x480 isn't it?

shadowmite 01-27-2010 12:30 AM

Re: Interested in helping Linux/Android development?

640x480. from what I read I'm interested in compiling a custom kernel to try this out but I don't have the time right now. Did anyone try compiling the current diamond kernel with the framebuffer code modified to a size of 320x319?

It's 320x320.?

How do you do that anyway? Do you have to do that with java developing software or something?

No, it has to be done with an ARM compiler, normally done within Linux.

shadowmite 01-27-2010 12:51 PM

Re: Interested in helping Linux/Android development?

the 320x319 is needed (was?) due to a bug in android not liking resolutions being the same in both dimensions. I'll try to get time this weekend to crosscompile a kernel to test if no one else does it in the meantime. At the very least we should be able to get the inital framebuffer output working properly in the new kernel builds and once we get that update have them patch GIT for us.

ya noticed that too but now it looks like treocentral has picked up a lil bit. seems like we go back and forth between forums or we have got this phone figured out completely!!

Re: Interested in helping Linux/Android development?

What thread is the android info under treocentral? curious because it would be nice to mess around with the pro, and since I was able to break my sprint contract due to soo many issues. I really dont care if I brick this phone IK'll just get another one

Nobody is working on it, so there are no updates.

I recommend the Droid, Eris, or Moment for your android needs.

Re: Interested in helping Linux/Android development?

I'm far too busy atm to really dedicate any time to it. Yes, the most realistic method of getting Android is to either buy a heavily supported/developed WinMo device, or simply buy an Android.

Re: Interested in helping Linux/Android development?

So I know this thread seemed to have died but I'm still interested in getting Android to work on the TREO PRO. I have been able to get Android to go through the initial setup(setting time format, location services and so) but when I get done with this it shows android.process.acore has been stopped. There are a couple issues along with the process quiting such as the calibration is opposite and I'm sure a ton of driver issues. I'm pretty sure the process issue is with the LED driver for the Navipad from the Raphael kernel. I am trying to learn everything to be able to compile my own kernel but I was wondering if anyone else was still interested. I have already moved to the Droid from Verizon but I still want to learn.

well, im interested. but i dont know where to start. i have been a sys dev since. and now im doing .net. well, maybe you can point me to the right direction. well, we can have fun with this.

Re: Interested in helping Linux/Android development?

Yeah, my main goal is to get a good handle on Android and how it works. I really just started diving into it this past weekend but have learned a lot. Do you have a TREO PRO, if so GSM or CDMA.

vitusdoom 03-02-2010 06:58 PM

Re: Interested in helping Linux/Android development?

I have a treo pro. but its GSM. well, thats nice to hear that someone else is interested in this. well, obviously the other devs gave up.

scmurray1 03-02-2010 08:25 PM

Re: Interested in helping Linux/Android development?

I don't know how this will work on a GSM PRO since I have a CDMA but give it a try. Go to pocketngo.com and right click the TreoDroid link and save the file. I'm sure you know how to do the rest and let me know how it works on your TREO.

Re: Interested in helping Linux/Android development?

I have a gsm treo pro too.
scmurray1 I can not download the file from TreoDroid link, would you please upload the file to 4shared.com?

scmurray1 03-02-2010 10:10 PM

Re: Interested in helping Linux/Android development?

Sorry about that. The link will work now.

Re: Interested in helping Linux/Android development?

What does it do when you run haret

honking 03-02-2010 11:43 PM

Re: Interested in helping Linux/Android development?

It shows a msg box with a process bar,and then stop.

honking 03-02-2010 11:46 PM

Re: Interested in helping Linux/Android development?

Maybe the haret does not support the gsm tp . We should compile one for it, but I don't know how to do.

vitusdoom 03-03-2010 06:45 AM

Re: Interested in helping Linux/Android development?

ok. i'll try to download that and run it on my gsm treo pro. i'll give you info later if anything goes ok or what.

I've been working hard trying to get a working kernel up and running. So far no luck buy I've been devoting all my free time to it so hopefully something will go right soon.

Hi, I have compiled haret.exe for my gsm treo pro ,and it's mtype is 2673.
As we know ,the gsm treo pro's cpu is msm7201-400mhz, does anybody know how to build zImage for gsm treo pro?

I have tried many kernels from htc device , but nothing works. So I decide to make a kernel, the problem is I don't know how to start. Can someone help me?
