a method i read on another thread, said to install the icsenable cab posted here, soft reset, install again, thats it. i didnt touch the registry. just paired with the pc via wmdc, connect via internet sharing and that worked for me. try that after a hard reset.

I found the solution!!!!

A services starts called HTC_CM_Guardian.exe , this is the annoying culprit that keeps reseting the registry values, i found this link below, you can thank shaggylive

But wat no one explains is the reason to use "Sprint" as the connection vs using "phone as modem"? they both alow teathering? so wats the difference?
I guessing that using "phone as modem" connection option tells sprint u r tethering, while using "sprint" connection tricks sprint into thinking ur just using internet on the device its self,

Well am i right or wrong?

I'm a little confused on this as well although it does sound like you do not want Sprint to know you are tethering. I have another question though...do you do this through Bluetooth or USB cable or does that not matter just so long as you are not using "phone as modem"?

Also, that last cab from violent23...it says QVGA....that's not really going to work on a Treo Pro is it?

Someone explained it for me:
"On a stock ROM using Phone as Modem will result in the phone using your secondary (tethering) NAI. If you don't have the PAM option on your account, the secondary NAI will be denied login.

The "Sprint" profile uses the primary NAI and is the same login that is used by the phone's browser and other native net apps. "

Well, I don't think I really want PDA.net. I have a friend who has it and although it works great, you can't have multiple laptops run with it if I understand that correctly.
I would jave been happy to pay Sprint a little extra every moth for this optioon that I probably would use only a coupel of times a year but they won't even offer it as an optionat all. So forget it, I get it for free elsewhere.
My question is do I use WMWifirouter,
the ICsenable cab,

I'm thinking no here because it's VGA. or...

WMWifiRouter works perfectly for me. Connects easily via USB, bluetooth, or WiFi.

I ended up with two lines the original one that states "Force Cell Connection" and a second that states "Force Cell Connection2".
When I delete the line that states "Force Cell Connection" all works well however if I do a soft reset both lines reappear. Is there a way to permanently delete the original line so that it will not return after a soft reset?

i've tried the "fix". It just tells you the file is missing every time you reset the phone. No biggie. Now I want to uninstall the original "fix" that takes away the option of sprint or phone modem or whatever it originally did. Is there a way to undo what was done????

HTC_CM_GUARDIAN in your windows/startup. delete it thats whats rewriting you reg edits that you change and not allowing powervision for your PAM unless you pay for actual sprint PAM it wont work. This uses your powervision connection for internet to your computer. It's a little slower but its works pretty dam good. then follow the steps and it works! i can bluetooth and usb internet. o and also you can to all the reg edits stated in post #1 then soft reset and you good to go! I use this all the time just watch doing large transfers. but so far so good no additional charges and i think im over 2 gigs in data usage!!!~

I had downloaded "internet sharing fix" cab and installed that and had been able to use phone as modem...but now I get error 67 three times in a row and then "connection termintated by remote party" so I can't do any internet tethering. I would like to use this fix to allow me to tether but I am a novice when it comes to updating my phone. Is there an app I need to edit the registry? Also, is there a file that I will need to delete that will reset palm registry settings on the treo pro?

ya once i flashed it kept trying to dial PAM and wouldn't work. kept getting that error 67 bs.

not that i have found... there are some on here that say they got the cmwifirouter to work but after 5 tries ive had no luck so i just bought wifirouter it is def. worth the money
