Enable QuickGPS (speed up GPS acquisition)
 

QuickGPS, from Qualcomm, is an internet based aGPS system whereby your phone downloads GPS ephemeris data in advanced for 7 days. This is then used to compute your location locally in a much more rapid fasion than standalone or network-assisted aGPS.

From PPCGeeks/XDA

1. download attached zip
2. extract all files
3. run QuickGPS_VGA_by_SWTOS .cab
4. reset
5. run .reg file using Resco Explorer or similar to import
6. reset
7. must have an open internet connection to work

File contains: QuickGPS_VGA_by_SWTOS .cab; QuickGPS.reg

.NET 3.5 is not needed.

I can't extract the .reg file... this is the message I get in WinRAR ! C:\Users\Dan\Downloads\Treo Pro QuickGPS Hack.zip: Unknown method in QuickGPS.reg

Yeah, I get that too. It works on the desktop but not on ppc. Will reupload.

Thanks for this Maltesa, and thanks to everyone involved in making it! I wanted to put this on my wifes Treo Pro, but decided to somewhat correct it for the 320x320 screen. I didn't make the cab (real credit goes to who did), I just corrected the images and altered the cab name so it could be better identified.

Edit: Thought I would come back and let everyone know that they will still need the reg file in the download in post #1. I'm cool with the cab I modified being added in Maltesa, if you want. Thanks man!

No problem man. Anything I can do to help. I always find myself converting graphics on programs for her phone, so I figured no point in me going through that for just one handset. Hope everyone enjoys. :) I'm fairly decent with image altering out of cabs, let me know if you have anything else that's sized wrong for the Treo Pro, and I'll do my best to make it at least a LITTLE better.

It never takes more than 2 seconds for my treo pro to lock on the GPS. Why make it any faster?

I take it that QuickGPS isn't included on the Sprint Treo Pro. Has anyone thought of cabbing the version that comes with the GSM Treo Pro? I'd think that'd work without needing any fixes.

Mal, I noticed that even with this installed, whenever I try to activate GPS it automatically initiates a data connection, which seems to take nearly 10 seconds just to get that. Then, once that is done it only takes a couple seconds to get a lock.

Anyway to stop this thing from first initiating a data connection and just use the stored GPS info this app downloads? Seems like that would speed things up to only >5 seconds.

Or, am I understanding this incorrectly?
