Palm Pro: Dual core or not?

so I've asked other places, and no one knows ... I'm coming here as my last resort ...

Quote:

Qualcomm Dual-Core MSM7501A at 528MHz processor (400 MHz Qualcomm on GSM networks) from Wikipedia.org

Also found on Telus' page

So one place says "dual core processor" and one says "dual core chipset" ... interesting.

Last resort? Shoulda come here first.

yes, dual core chipset

the ARM9 processor is for the radio; ARM11 for OS and the rest

It's not "dual core" in the sense that most people use it e.g. there are not two processors sharing the burden of running the OS and applications. Instead one is dedicated for the phone/radio for better performance/better battery in doing network things.

Malatesta - I went to a local board - Howardforums.com - first then Mytreo.net then came here ...

I won't make that mistake again *LOL*

So it's two processors and not two cores per processor (I build PC's ;) I have an X3 Phenom right now actually ... )

HF and MTN have some good folks who overlap here at ppcgeeks, but for Treos only go here or TreoCentral ;-)

And right, two processors--ARM9 and ARM11 on the same chipset, but both are very different in function and architecture.

Here's an article I wrote that touches a bit on the subject...you may find it interesting.

Yup, Mogul, Diamond, Touch Pro all have the same chipset with 2 processors. What they don't have are the direct draw drivers which the Treo Pro (and 800w) seem to have.
