What exactly do you mean? Are they giving a Treo Pro for your Treo 800W just like that??

yea if it is a corp service and repair store as of monday when i was at work last the only thing they could exchange for if you had a problem with your 800w is a new treo pro.

My 800w with low signal strength is being replaced with a Treo Pro (they had to order it though, so I'm assuming it will be refurbished, not new)

this is nice but nothing pisses me off more as a tech than when a customer comes in with a perfectly functioning phone and wants it swapped out for a pro just because people are posting this on a forum. so congrats to OP and others genuinly having prob's w/their phone but those who are using the system to get a free upgrade..not cool and if the manager at the store notices, chances are your account will get flagged and you deffinetly wont come out ahead

Re: Tro 800 for Treo pro

Maybe if these phones worked half as good as they are supposed to this would not even be an issue. I have one that works when it want's too. Won
't sync at all anymore, and I get a constant no service and have to do a hard reset about once a week. I don't have time to get by the service center and refuse to pay to use the insurance for a phone that is 3 months old. I am sure that you techs are as tired as the rest of us of dealing with substandard equipment but I just had to vent a little. This phone is making me crazy, I love it, I hate it, I love it, I hate it....argh!

Re: Tro 800 for Treo pro

So if I made a claim to assurance online they would send me a Treo Pro?

Judging by the time of the post and the ~400 miles from Cincinnati, you could be the fellow that I talked with at the authorized Sprint service center in West Bloomfield, MI. :angry7:

Careful what you say about people, not everyone is a liar or looking for an undeserved gain. I've personally been unhappy with my 800w for a long while (> 1 year). Even though it's not "broken" it has many annoying issues. Of course any unhappy phone owner is going to jump at an opportunity to swap it. Especially since they paid hundreds of dollars for the phone and are locked into a contract. Shoot, I've even thought about trying to swap with a Centro owner just to shake my 800w. We'll see how my replacement pans out.

Hope this sheds some light on the other side of the counter for you.

Re: Tro 800 for Treo pro

My local sprint repair center ordered a replacement for my 800w. They said that the replacement 800w was on back order just like Dustin reported. They also said they are not approved to replace it with an Treo Pro and that I would be getting an 800w. Then they called me and told me my replacement is in and that it is a Treo Pro. Weird.

Either way I am a very happy Sprint customer, I was very depressed about being stuck with the 800w for another 15 months. I really like the Treo Pro but of course it is the gadget-honeymoon.

Thanks Dustin for letting us know. Very cool of you. And thanks to Sprint and the Repair Center for freeing me of that 800w.

Sprint Store was trying to charge me for the non-charging port. Talking to retentions (866-235-1185) now.

Re: Tro 800 for Treo pro

I was gonna worry fighting Sprint about it, but when I can sell my 800w for $150 and get a new Pro in the box for $200 (be here Tuesday) its just not worth it....I would also have to pretty much lie since mine has never had an issue...Even though it would probably fly on just the known issues...

Re: Tro 800 for Treo pro

Re: Tro 800 for Treo pro

sorry if im bring this thread up from the dead but my treo 800w was doing alot of funny and stupid things,

sum times it wouldnt ring

twice dureing boot up it would just stop at a third mark and just freeze , ( sprints stores way of fixing it was a hard reset ) but i told them i didnt have a way of backing up my stuff , stupid people at the sprint store do not know about the sprite back up program , so basicllly i told a lie but

i had received 5 reconditioned 800w's 3 for charger port issue , ( sprint store was hurting for good customer surveys so they ignored i was suspose to pay for it ) 1 i did my self through self service replacement opition thru sprint.com
and the first one is through asurion

but ya i called retenions they either A didnt wanna help me because i have a 150 $ upgrade credit or B i am sero plan customer , but the deal about it was i had a centro which had given me problems early in its life (calling 911 in my pocket , freezeing needing a soft reset constantly so i decided an bought a 800w of ebay to replace it , my account was 13 months old before i got my 150 $ upgrade credit

i suspose how i got it is either i called ivr to find out contract experiation a few times i wanna say 5 , and or i was about to submit a order on sprint.com with a 75 $ credit and just closed it out and canceled the order ,

but no you either have to be a long time or spend big money with sprint or you would need a but load or refurds to the point that they need special clearence to order you another one , which is 4 in one year

i use to be a vendor rep for sprint customer service so i know more then the average customer but i dont know everything

but i love my pro 850 they gave me in the store brand new in the box as well , it does funny stuff but not like my 800 , mostly what i just found is the internet explorer being a little laggy and the task manager doesnt wanna close with the button every time but it will close with the screen tap

My 800W died completely last week, took it into a Sprint repair center, they looked it over, checked for water damage, and gave me a new.........800W
