Good GPS program
Hey guys, quick question. I do a lot of things outdoors, mainly in the Sierra Nevadas or in the mountains of northern Arizona, and I was wondering if there is a good GPS app that is preferably free and doesn't require a broadband signal, but rather works solely off of the GPS itself. TIA

Re: Good GPS program
If you like Geocacheing, and want a free program you can try BasicGPS v2.60. You can get it here: http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-...-basicgps.html
I have used it a bit and it works ok. It is free, and doesn't require Wifi. Hope this helps. |
Re: Good GPS program
I have recently been playing with BasicGPS. I have had a problem importing records; however, that issue may have been solved. I also use CacheMate.

Re: Good GPS program
Make sure you have the current version (2.60) that I linked to in my post. It was literally released a few days ago. I have successfully imported a few .loc files with no issue.

Re: Good GPS program
So you're basically looking for something that has the maps preloaded in it as that would be the only way to do it without having to have a data connection. The only think I know for that would be an app available from TomTom and Garmin. I can't remember exactly what they are because I haven't used them but I'm sure you could find them fairly easily with a quick google search.
