I think this question has been asked before and I don't think anyone found the location where only the text messages were stored. The solution was to completely restore from a back up as skee seems to have done.

just back up palmv001 in the Windows folders to a SD and paste it back after a hard reset

I have verified that copying and pasting the PalmMsgV001 file works. (I suspect that is the file integra144 meant).

To sum it up, copy the PalmMsgV001 file back into the windows folder and overwrite the current file with the one you keep. All of your text messages will then show up in the chat log.

there is an easier way. If you get the program spb backup. (either buy it or use google) there is a selection in there for a customized backup and you can just back up your e-mails or just your pim ( meaning your text messages/contacts) i have found that this is the easiest way. You can also use the backup file to just restore the contacts/pim info. This has saved my *** plenty of times...
