Hotmail Issue
 

I got my Treo a little over two weeks ago. As I have done with all my PDA phones I set up my Hotmail account which ended up setting up Windows Live. Have not had any problems sending or receiving messages until two days ago. Now when I try to manually sync I receive a message that reads "There is a problem with the server. Please try again later." The only option is to dismiss. Then an error pops up "Messaging: Failed to synchronize Inbox." I have tried removing then setting the account back up and still receive these messages. I do get my folder lists but no emails. Any suggestions?

I had that same message for a while on my 700wx using windows live. I gave up on windows live and just use Pocket MSN that came with my 700wx. Since then I've had no problems.

Don't have Pocket MSN on the Treo. I just don't understand what happened to cause it to stop working. I have done everything but a hard reset.

Ok. Did a hard reset and still have this issue. Email Live tech support but I won't hold my breath for a response.

OK I GOT IT!!!!!

Get on hotmail on your computer and move the contents of your Inbox to a new folder. Then sync your phone. I actually recreated my account on my phone. Once you successfully sync then you can move your emails back to your Inbox and re-sync. It work for me and I hope it works for anyone else having this issue.

Had the same problem with my Mogul and MSN account until I found out on this site that I needed to delete the Skyfire emails. Now it works fine.

It would have been nice if it were an email from Skyfire for me but I had deleted the Skyfire email way before I had this issue.

This is strange. I have also had the same issue for 2 or 3 days and strangely enough it was 2 or 3 days ago I got my skyfire e-mial as well. Ill try the fix and see if it works for me too. Thanks.

Thanks! it worked. I also moved my skyfire e mail to another folder all together.

Thanks for this info though it did not exactly solve my problem, it did lead me down the right track.

1. Using Hotmail on my PC, created new Hotmail folder
2. Moved ALL Inbox contents to new folder
3. Recreated Hotmail account in WML on TC
4. Sync ok (no messages in Inbox)
5. On PC, moved small group of messages at a time from new folder back to Inbox.
6. Sync ok.
7. Repeat 5-6 until sync failure. When failed, move last group back from Inbox to new folder then move one a time any sync until you find the offending message.
8. The message that hosed me was from the Jack Johnson's All At Once Mailing list (sender: oniracom.0@ContactBuddy.com)

Deleting that message (or just leaving it out of a synced folder) allowed me to sync successfully once again.

Guys there is currently a issue with hotmail, live and msn accts on the microsoft server side. Microsoft expects a fix on 8/15......... Its been all over our outage boards at work.

I'm sure Microsoft is having issues since I have never had this problem untill last week but at least the fix that was given to me my their tech support got me back up.

Deleting all Hotmail junk mail and a few recent items in the inbox cleared the "there is a problem with the server" issue for me downloading attachments.

I Wife is finally upgrading to a smart phone. Gave her the old 800w and we are having issues sending emails. She has her school email account that uses windows live. Its a xxx@student.cccs.edu acount, I sign on just fine, messenger is working and all. It says it syncs but email do not send. There are no error messages or anything. I click send and it says finished right away. The messages are still in the outbox, try to send and it does nothing. click send/receive and it comes back and says finished right away. Just downloaded the CAB file from microsoft "hot email fix 6.1" and nothing changed. Too test it, I added her yahoo account to the emails and it sends, receives just fine.

Any help?

Does anyone have am idea as to why I can sync on windows live with wifi but when I use my data connection, it shows, "failed to syncronize the folder list". ????? Thank you.
