treo wakes up and shut down by itself while charging off and on constantly.
have a few programs installed
gps gate
tomtom
memmaid
pocketweather
resco explorer
treo keylight

think it might be the gpsgate, icon seems to animate. any input?

If it is scheduled to get a GPS update every so often, then that is likely it.

welcome to windows mobile......all of them do this. you will learn to charge your phone facedown so the bright light wont wake you when you sleep

my mogul never did it. it does it every 1-2 minutes and turn off and then comes back on.

My treo 800w is now 4 days old, it turns itself on and off all the time. I seem to have the same problem. The phone lights up sometimes othertimes the keyboard lights up but the screen stays dark. It doesn't matter whether i'm charging the phone or Not.
Otherwise, no hangup problems, the phone is ridiculously fast in using multiple applications and using internet....

However, the phone was lighting up well before putting these programs on, the only thing I can recall is the night that i got the phone i ran Mobimate from the Treo 800w CD but later uninstalled it.

I haven't had this issue with any of my devices. I have heard that going in and out of roaming can cause this have you tried setting your PPC to Sprint only?

my touch is set to sprint only and it turns on in the middle of the night, so yeah, i leave it turned upside down.

I have had mine for 4 days... and experienced the wake up throughout the night... + the lousy battery life.

Called Sprint and was asked to do a soft reset (pull out the battery). Thas seemed to have helped (resolved the problem) I was not awaken the following night by the light, but that could have been due to fatigue... we'll keep an eye out.

Went to the Sprint store... I was told that all of the bells and whistles suck up the juice. Oh well... this is a wonderful gadget for a 12 year palm user... but the learning curve is great and I miss the brightness and battery life of the 700p. I guess life was a lot simpler a week ago. After having test driven the 800w, it is hard to go back... and seriously doubt that I will. Will have to work on solutions...

Just curious, what is your setting for screen brightness. I have a T750, and if i set brightness below 40% the screen won't stay off. It's a known issue on the 750.

I had a problem with the 800w awaking every few minutes until I employed the Activesync 'fake' server trick and revised it's settings to update manually. The problem is now gone. In my case, ActiveSync kept waking the device for no good reason so the fake server did the trick.
