Text MSG - Save as read

I get a ton of text messages that i can basically read on the Today screen since they are almost always 1-2 lines. After reading them i want the text msg indicator to remove the read message so i usually select "menu -> Save as read" ... which in my mind should subtract that txt from the today screens # of unread messages box. Although it seems to do nothing at all. The message still appears as unread on the today screen and when i go into text messages it appears as unread there as well. Anyone know a fix for this?

No dice ... nothing seems to fix it. Do you have the issue as well or have you seen it?

I've seen this issue too, but it appears to be intermittent. It may be related to whether there are other waiting notifications, such as Voice Mail, or if there is more than one text message. Sometimes it behaves better (actually does mark as 'read' and remove notification) if there is more than one text awaiting acknowledgment.

Fix ideas anyone?

I'm using the Palm Threaded app with rlToday (see the Themes section) and it only has "Go to" (left key) and "Dismiss" (left key) as options.

When I hit "Dismiss" the notification stops and my counter for rlToday resets to zero instantly.

The SMS stays as unread in the Inbox.

So that's one setup to avoid this but I'm not sure about using the default SMS program with the Messaging plugin. I forgot what the default behavior is.

I wonder if a force-screen refresh would reset the counter e.g. go to Settings --> Today and select/unselect a random plugin, then hit "OK" and see the Today Screen refresh itself.
