Are you gonna try it coz?

I might try it on my wife's wx first. Her's is pretty beat up so if I brick it she'll just claim it and get a refurb.

Is that wrong of me?

Not wrong at all. Better you brick hers than yours

Re: WM6 finally ported to Treo 700wx

Ok its in there first a few items about the flash if you go to HERE and get any of the files in the second post you will boot to WM5 not sure whats up with that I tried it with the 2 files called "Ebag's Trimmed Rom - Take 1" ran the boot 3 times and got WM5 all 3 times. User error maybe not sure so went to HERE got this file and everything went well. This flash process takes about 12 minutes so be patient, and when you get to the boot screen the first time after the flash it dose take a couple of minutes to start so don't panic.

Now some quick specs

Windows Mobile 6 Professional

Storage memory: 61.15
Program Memory: 44.15

I need some time to play with this I will update this post with some reviews later.

So it sounds like after you found the right files that it was a pretty easy process? Look forward to hearing more about the stability and functionality of your phone.

Installed wm 6 (using the Trimmed 6 rom) on a VZ 700wx. A breeze to install. Very impressed thus far with speed and stability. havent tested bluetooth but EVDO and voice work great. html email finally! Thanks to all for your efforts - i've been tracking behind the scenes for quite some time and and thrilled with what i've been able to do this am.

Re: WM6 finally ported to Treo 700wx

Wow what a ride let me try to explain what I went through with this upgrade. First I flashed my 700wx everything went very well (Pretty easy to do I can tell you because I got lots of practice) I was done in just a few minutes. I was playing around with my Treo, showing my wife some of the differences I loaded the full version by the way the one with the IE issues if you want a little history you can go to HERE start on the second post and read through. Any way she says I want that so I throw the SD card in her Treo and start the update all was going well when I started trying to use IE on my Treo saw the problem thought all I need to do is force an IOTA you know get the data flowing, cool so I start messing with the Phone settings. About that time the wife’s Treo finishes flashing I pick it up same issue IE doesn’t work so I go back to the phone settings and I change this:

http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/e...sshot001-5.jpg

I changed from home to Automatic A and that was it no more phone on my wife’s Treo. DON’T CHANGE THE NETWORK SETTINGS. So I posted the issue and started trying to flash back to correct the problem with no luck finally someone posted the solution and I was able to get the phone back on But I am still having problems with the data login. I got tired of messing with it yesterday so I have to call Sprint today to get this resolved.

Now for the review, by the way I have loaded the trimmed version on both devices now and it seams to run smoother. This setup is not as stable as the WM5 not really a lot of resets just some slow performance lags at times but seams to recover on its own. All the Treo customizations are still there and wireless manager has been added to the right soft key, so no more having to get out your styli out to turn on Bluetooth. This is a basic WM6 has the Office Mobile folder in programs new set of icons etc… and the screen looks clearer to me but that might just be me. IE is quick as always and runs smoothly. I have been using Skyfire to view picture mails when opened in IE you cant see the picture. No real phone issues so far and Bluetooth runs about the same as before so no plusses or minuses there either. All in all I will keep it for now but it’s only been 2 days.

:!: DON’T CHANGE THE NETWORK SETTINGS :!: DON’T CHANGE THE NETWORK SETTINGS :!:

Good luck
Dave

WOW! Very cool, I thought I would never hear of WM6 on a 700wx.

Any one try A2DP, and is their any difference in sound quality?

Re: WM6 finally ported to Treo 700wx

Been on flights all day using my Plantronx 880 sound is great no static louder and no connect, disconnect issues. So I would say that that's an improvement. Also I noticed they changed the on screed during a call set up. In the WM5 version it would take over the whole today screen, in WM6 it is only a 2 liner and in today settings you can uncheck to remove it so there is no today screen used up when you are in a call.

Dave, please keep us posted as to the performance, issues, etc. as you go about your daily business. I know there are a lot of wx users who are very interested in this. I may actually sack up and try it on my wx (after I "practice" on my wife's phone).

You must have loaded the full version, all you need to do is change the home page in IE and everything will work fine.

Daily update for sacrdee coz 24 hours no resets my 700wx has gone from call to call with no errors run multiple programs at the same time and I am theatherd to my laptop making this post. I have been traveling flights mostly, and some driving so I have been in and out of roaming areas with no issues. Still has the slow performance from time to time but has recovered on it own I have been patient and let it recover in stead of resetting I want to see how long I can go with out a reset.

Just do it you know you want to

It means breaking your phone beyond repair. If you need the steps, obviously you didn't read the WMExperts link posted as the first post in this thread as it gives you the step by step instructions you need.

Someone help? What do you expect someone to do? If you're afraid of "bricking" your phone, then this obviously isn't something you should try.

However, if you're adventurous and wouldn't mind buying a new phone if you truly do f up the phone, then go for it.

I've flashed my 700wx with a custom WM 5 ROM with no issues.

Did you load the full version? There have been some IE issues with that version, I am running Ebag's Trimmed WM6 ROM and I haven't had any problems.

Another quick stability report:

I have push mail set up and I have had issues with push mail trying to sign on. At time I have what I call Sh** Storms at work where an issue will come up on a project and I get a call and I have to coordinate getting my installer, customer, and future owner of the equipment on the same page at the same time. While I am doing this I have 5 to 15 people waiting for an answer. So I have to make 3,4,5 phone calls back to back as fast as possible. I have had my 700wx cancel my attempt at making a call to sign on to data trying to update the push mail. I have changed my push settings to every 15 minutes for now until I can get this figured out.

Re: WM6 finally ported to Treo 700wx

i was able to fix the internet problem by changing the default home page. there is some thing WM6 does not like about m.google.com another thing that i found with the full one is that there is a date and time where the SPRINT name was. thats ok for most but i use alarms alot and like having the date on the today screen. when i added the date to the today screen i had two date's. and it was driving me crazy. i found there was a program in the startup folder called "cdate" and after deleting it and a soft reset it want back to only the one date.

Re: WM6 finally ported to Treo 700wx

as i was just about to upgrade i had to call sprint to fix my email problem i had with sprintpcs email and some spamming that has been going on.. IDK how that happened but oh well.
I tell the lady im thinking of getting rid of my phone and getting an instinct or maybe even changing the OS on the 700wx. She informs me to wait till middle of July sometime. She said The new treo will be out. Its gonna be called Treo 800W. With the GPS and bluetooth stuff all buolt in and with pic mail. I dont trust the pic mail stuff tho. So im hoping SomeGuyMMS will be able to create one for WM6.1. At least the lady said thats whats gonna be on the 800W. So i guess im gonna wait for a sec.. Ill give it about a monthand a half see how the 800w goes, and might end up upgrading..

Just my two cents... but i'm pretty sure the 700w can't handle WM6... or if it can... it would be so slow it might not be worth it

Hi, please explain to me for more details about your answer which you said that the 700w "would be so slow it might not be worth it"? I think both 700w and 700wx specification are the same. So why did you say 700w would be slower than 700wx???

I found 700w/wx spec here:

I've always been under the impression that the 700w has about half the RAM of the 700wx. I remember when the WX came out... people made a big deal since it was way faster and could handle more programs running at a time.

can anyone confirm?

my 700wx has about 57MB of RAM ... what does your 700w have? maybe i'm wrong, but i'd like to know haha
