Try copping the palm massaging files again sounds like you missed something.

short of a hard reset i cant really think of anything...it seems as if the dll for that function is either bad or missing. this is why we stress backing up your device before monkeying around with it!!!

My problem with Voicemail could be related to Palm Messaging? It's worked flawlessly and I followed the instructions exactly, so I don't think I missed anything...

This was taken from Alienware on TreoCentral forums and it worked for me:

Quote:

I had to go in and edit the registry. Problem was, the key I was supposed to be editing wasn't even there. So I had to create it. Here's what I did, because what the crap is the point of a softkey with a notification if you can't use it, right?

Download PHM Registry Editor

open it and navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER/System/State/Messages/vmail

If you click on vmail, you should see a value in the window on the bottom of your screen; something that says VMailNumber. This should be your phone number (1234567890). If there's a different value, click on it, and replace it with your phone number.

In my case, the key didn't even exist for some reason, so I had to create it. If that's the situation for you, just do this:

Click edit
New String Value
Enter VMailNumber (instead of new value 1 or whatever) and your phone number in the other field
Click ok

This worked for me, and now that button's functions are restored.

I know it's a serious PITA, but it's the only thing I know that will restore that feature. Good luck!

First, go in and make sure you have no new voice mails.
Second, reset the voice mail count on the phone:
Right Softkey -> Preferences -> Phone Settings -> Services -> Clear Voicemail icon
Then soft reset. Call yourself and leave a voicemail. See if it works.

Same thing happened to me and what I posted above fixed it.

I didn't have the key at all... added it and it now works! Thank you!

One thing... it seems that the key I create disappears after a soft reset. Any way to prevent this?

I just started having this happen. I recently performed a hard-reset on my 700wx because of some issues I was having (do NOT use Tweaks2k2 on these phones!!). Prior to the hard reset, I was using Beta 3 of the SMS patch and manually made the registry changes for the SMS/Messaging softkey. With the hard reset, I used Beta 4, which made the softkey automatically. Now, I could be just pulling at straws here, but the two seem related.

Anyone else experience this?

I'm going to try the registry change from above (Thanks for that).

As for the registry changes not sticking, Window Mobile 5 has a hive based registry (WM 2003 used a file based registry). You can change it easily by editing the registry. See the following:

Are there any disadvantages to switching to a file-based registry?

Wow, I have had this issue forever and that did the trick. Nice to have that feature work.

Not sure how or why the key was not even there..

I bought this version so that I could use iGuidance GPS cause its way better than TomTom, however they release an all-in-one device now so I think I am going to go back to the 700P. Seems to react much faster without having to make registry changes.
